Was that word used to make you feel better about the passage ? n Was it necessary to use it at all? The situation seems to be me this:
Based on what Audie wrote, ES interpreted that as her meaning that westerns have to go to church to be saved.
Audie did not write that.
Of course under the context it is undestandable that ES read it that way.
It was an innocent mistake, one easily done since the first time I read that sentence too it seemed to imply that.

There was no malicious intent on quoting Audie that way BUT it was wrongly interpreted.
