it sounds like to me that Romans 3:9-10 is referring to Jews not being better then Greeks. Which has nothing to do with being a sinner after we are saved.
Jews people though they were better then everyone else because they were Gods chosen people and Paul was just telling them they were not we are all the same.

What does the parable of the Pharisee and tax collector mean to me?

First I don't think that was a parable. I at work and I don't have my bible with me right now so I am not for sure be I do not think it was.

Parable or not it was before Jesus died on the cross so both men were sinners the one admitted to it and the other one didn't.

Do I think Christians should be high minded and proud bosters of them selves of cores not.

but according to osas people like that are still ok. Doesn't sound like Jesus thought so.

this is a question that I have.

if osas were true then why is the bible full of ....

An example

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

If osas were true then this verse would not be in the bible.

I guess RickD is referring to the fact that him or b.w can answer this question.

Haha I know Rick
I remember jpbg.

It just a shame that some christians can hear the message but not truly undertand it.
They take grace so abundantly offered to them but cannot forward it to others.

Yes for the record it was a parable
And Rick was referring to the fact that you can't beat a dead horse.
Or perhaps in your legalistic, self centered interpreation of scripture you don't like a woman correcting you.
It's okay, with how you present yourself you can get used to it!
I'm not going to quote you because it may somewhat confuse the issue or the language but to say it was before Jesus died on the cross so that effects the fact they were both sinners, is no argument at all to speak of.
They were both sinners before and after Jesus died and rose again.
Don't be so minimalistic in your approach.

Can you believe Jews thought they were better than others, Gods chosen people, so Paul had to correct them and say no, no better, pretty much wake up.
It's an out there concept, the religious self righteous thinking they are better than others but needing to be reminded that they, YOU are not better.

Can I ask what church do you belong too?
and do they feed you this BS.

I don't care if you are a woman or not if you have a good answer I will take it, but you are not answering my question.

Weather we agree with someone or not we should be treating each other with respect and I have respectfully answer your question but you have yet to answer mine. You may not like the answer I gave you but that was the same answer your osas friends gave me when asking about thing that happened before Jesus died on the cross. didn't see anyone throwing that answer under the but then.

Paul talks about Jews thinking they were better then others more the one's, and that was what he was referring to there

if he can take pot shot at me I should be able to take pot shot at him to.

Let me answer this with a question, if I may. To make my point.

Jpbg,
In revelation 21:8, it says ALL liars shall have their part in the lake...

So, have you ever lied? Ever?
John 5:24
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Well...then it looks like you're going to be in the lake of fire with the rest of us liars. Thank you for pointing out "the bible is full of..."

But God took my part back when I repented and accepted Him as my savior.

So He fore gave me of all those lies I did in the past. So now I am not a liar.

But if I become a liar again then according to that verse I will again have my part in the lake of fire.

I know what you wont to say all this means. You wont to say God fore gives us for past present and future sins all at the same time there for we can not be liars once we are saved, but that is not biblical ether or how would this fit in.

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

that go's fore everyone not just people that have never been saved before, other wise this verse wouldn't be true.

So,

The Jesus you believe in, was only able to atone for your past sins? Because the Jesus in the bible atoned for the sins of the world. Every sin.

Must be a crappy way to live your life jpbg. Always trying to make sure you don't sin...trying not to stumble, so not to lose salvation...

But, that's the life of those who feel they need to work to keep salvation. :shakehead:

As for me...I'd rather live with the knowledge that God saved me, a sinner, and He will never leave me! No matter what I do, He is always faithful! And He has given me His Holy Spirit as a guarantee of His promise!

No...you can have your works salvation. You can have your lame false christ, whose atonement was not sufficient for all sin.

I think I'll keep my God. The God whose promises are true. The God who promises that even when I fail Him, He will never leave me!

so Revelation 21:8 was not right to say all liars just some because the liars in 1john 2:4 may have been saved before they stared lieing. See that logic doesn't work.

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
No, that's not what I "wont" to say.

If I lie, I'm a liar. If I steal, I'm a thief. Just because I'm saved, that doesn't mean I'm not a liar if I lie.

How does 1 John 2:4 fit in? It "fits in" perfectly fine, if you don't misinterpret it to be referring to salvation.

If you say you know God, or you say you are close to Him, and don't keep His commandments, you're a liar. And you're not truthful.

It doesn't say that if you say you are saved, and you don't keep His commandments, you are a liar.

Read what the verse actually says. Salvation is not mentioned. Stop adding meaning that's not there!

So you are saying you don't know Jesus nor dose most of the others on here that say they live there life the way they wont to.

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

You told me earlier that the verse meant abiding in Christ not salvation. Jesus said here that if a man (which means anyone) dose not abide in him he will be cast into fire.

How do you become liar again, jpbg?

And, you never sin? You sinned in the past and now not?
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
