When you pray, or talk to God how do you address Him?
Whenever I pray I either start with The Lord's Prayer or Dear God. If I'm just chatting to Him, I'll just say hey, or something similar.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm being disrespectful somehow but I figure as well as being my comfort, my mentor, my guide and salvation, He is also my friend, so I'm kinda thinking He won't mind.

"Hey you!.start explaining and make it snappy"
Seriously though, I dont really address God at all. I barely address people.
I mean if I am emailing someone or talking one on one with them I dont really
address them. But people will address me and then half way through again at times. I mean theres no one standing behind.me right?
I just find it unatural. Though for some weird reason when I talk to mel I always say her name but i figure since i used to be called that, its just some weird egotistical thing

So if you dont address God, do you just start talking to Him?
How do you know He knows youre actually talking to Him? Is it a case of Him knowing everything so He knows when youre talking to Him?

Re: How do you address God?
One time I was talking to Him, and wasn't getting any response. Then I started to raise my voice. Still no response. So I yelled, "God are you there?"Storyteller wrote:So if you dont address God, do you just start talking to Him?

Still nothing...
So I left a voicemail.

I confuse God alot like that... he'll be like going to the angels "Who is Nessa talking too?Storyteller wrote:So if you dont address God, do you just start talking to Him?

See, he doesnt even address the angels
He knows everything before I even say it.
psalm 139
Sometimes i do say God though but never anything else. And alot of the times I dont address him

Re: How do you address God?
He probably doesnt need to address his angels does he?
I think sometimes I want to address Him more personally, hence the Hey. It feels weird, kinda wrong to call Him Papa, or even Father, dunno why.

Re: How do you address God?
I tend to say Lord and Lord God (Lord sort of applies to Jesus as well as the Father and I think Lord God comes to me because it's in the Old Testament so much). When I'm 'seriously' praying I usually start off with Heavenly Father, I think.

Lord, God, Father.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
