Is there a difference between being righteous and being sinless?
Some people were called righteous in the bible.
Genesis 6:9 [ God Warns Noah ] These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.
Genesis 7:1 [ Entering the Ark ] Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before Me in this generation.
Does this mean they were sinless?
Thanks.

No one was sinless but Christ.
Righteousness is faith.
Noah was not sinless but he trusted Our Father so much so he Built a mega mother ark and trusted in Gods promise by His word.
Faith doesn't equate to perfection.
The thing is, nobody reached perfection but Jesus.
Ever.
We are not required to be perfect but have a heart living for Christ.
That's the best we can do but it's still not popular but better yet it's authentic.
I would rather be authentic in my shiteness than lying to myself in any regards to any self perceived ideas of goodness.

How did Jesus avoid original sin?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
John 5:24
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

I think some people think since Jesus' mother was human, she was subject to original sin and passed it on to Jesus, but we sin AS Adam sinned.RickD wrote:What do you mean by original sin?Christian2 wrote:How did Jesus avoid original sin?

The problem with this view is that Jesus did not have a human father and some think "original sin" passed from the father to the children.
I also agree with you that Jesus did not sin, so He was the "perfect Adam."
Thanks.

To be honest, original sin is a tricky one for me. There is a lot of disagreement among believers, as to what exactly original sin is.
How sin got passed from Adam to all of humanity, I really don't know.
Romans 5:12 says:
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—
Death to humans came because Adam sinned. And death spread to all people, because all sinned. What's interesting, is the fact that Eve sinned first, but death through sin came through Adam.
Sorry. I wish I could've been more help.

Adam was responsible for Eve -- telling her what God said about not eating the fruit from the tree -- because he was told before Eve was created.RickD wrote:oh, ok.Christian2 wrote:I think some people think since Jesus' mother was human, she was subject to original sin and passed it on to Jesus, but we sin AS Adam sinned.RickD wrote:What do you mean by original sin?Christian2 wrote:How did Jesus avoid original sin?

Death came because they were able to eat from the Tree of Life.
They would have lived forever.
After they sinned they were barred from the Tree of Life.
Because God could not let sinful people live in the Garden.
When they left the garden they were subjected to death -- they would not live forever,
therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—
My simply definition of original sin is: As Adam went so has all mankind, because we sin AS Adam sinned and therefore, we too, are subject to death.
The question is: how do we get access to the Tree of Life -- through Jesus, of course.

Re: Is there a difference between being righteous and being sinless?
We are all born with the ability To sin. Some people are able to live a very righteous life -- the person who sees himself as living a pretty righteous life is possibly guilty of pride. Or maybe he Is a very humble person --but sometime during his life he Will be guilty of some 'little white lie' No one is completely sinless. God's Word tells us that 'For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Eve believed satan's lie and ate some of the forbidden fruit and Adam chose to follow -- thus -- the knowledge of good and evil.

Re: Is there a difference between being righteous and being sinless?
I don't think a man or woman can wake up in the morning without sinning.
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23
I think Paul meant that quite literally when he said "all". You, me, Rich Deem, everybody. We don't deserve salvation by our very nature, for why would God take an interest in beings that are infinitely his inferior? That's the power of love and grace.
Just as a mother is smarter, bigger and stronger than her baby, she still loves her mewling infant with all the delicate feelings a human heart can muster.
