Context is the important thing to look at.

I don't think it's wise or appropriate if a parent who has anger issues smacks their kids if they can't control themselves. But I see nothing wrong at all in other parents using smacking (appropriatly) as a discipline tool. One of many tools. Any discipline can be misused. E.G time out in their room is fine but to lock them in there for two days? Maybe not

What do you mean by "smacking". I think smacking is like a slap across the face. I don't think that's good discipline.
