Re: Alright, i got a good question.
I think we should ban the word atheist, change it to non believer.
I have never thought science absolutely proves God, it may explain the how but it can't explain the why, and God is the why.
There are a lot of scientists that dont discount God, what makes them think that if science disproves God?
In answer to your hypothetical question Ken, I would call them a person of (misguided) faith

Kenny,
Last chance. Do not post again, without addressing my question that I asked you here:

Re: Alright, i got a good question.
The question was aimed at someone who claims an atheist must assert God does not exist rather than someone who simply doesn’t believe in God (note the difference) which seems a rather impossible position to hold unless God is defined first. Judging from previous conversations, you don’t seem to hold this position.Storyteller wrote:I think we should ban the word atheist, change it to non believer.

Anyway getting back to the hypothetical, which of the three would you say I would fit under; Theist, Atheist, or Agnostic?

I'd say you were a non believer
maybe agnostic because as far as I am aware you dont claim God doesnt exist, just that you dont think He does.

It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.
I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.

It's gone beyond the point of achieving the result I'm looking for(honest conversation that he actually pays attention to, and understands what others say).neo-x wrote:I doubt this is going to achieve the result you're hoping for.RickD wrote:Fine Kenny. Have it your way.

I hope you all understand why we "bent" the forum rules, and allowed Kenny to continue posting as long as we have.

Re: Alright, i got a good question.
Debated whether to post this here or pm you Rick, forgive me if you feel it should have been pm.
I dont quite understand why you banned Ken. He didnt answer a question? Seriously? You know I respect you, as a poster and as a moderator, I just dont get this.
Although Ken and I disagree about God, any discussions we've had have been interesting and respectful. I honestly dont understand why you banned him.

Re: Alright, i got a good question.
Is there any criteria that defines what you might believe once you've considered something?MBPrata wrote:Oh, dear! You think I'm 10 years old or something?! Or 12? You think I don't know that? You think I believe every scientist agrees with mr. Hawking? Me, who keep showing you that every belief has someone else who doesn't believe in it? You think that is who I am? Huh?not all scientists agree with Stephen Hawking and there are competing ideas too.
Yes, I "know" it (not really, because I don't "know", I believe OR think). But those perspectives come from intelligent people, which is enough for me to consider their perspectives. Not believe; consider. You are going by non-peer reviewed scientific ideas out there,I hope you know.
Is there anything you believe or is it like, anything is a possibility?
