Oh yes, one lucky guy.

4 nagging wives. 4 women with pms. 4 honey-do lists.
John 5:24
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Marriage in America isn't what it used to be(rest of the world will probably follow eventually).

4 X as much PMS - blissfully staggered across the month, a sequence of multiple pre-menopausal women! FOUR MILs???!!! :esurprised: :esurprised: :esurprised: FOUR anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine's Days. The guy must be crazy! Wrong name called out at the wrong time. :?

At least Solomon and David were kings - they had people to take care if such issues.

Nagging? PMS? Honey-do-lists? Geez, I'm sorry that your marriage is a chore.

When women live in close proximity for a long time their periods tend to sync up, so it's more likely four times the PMS simultaneously, and four happy women most of the time. I've never met a woman who wasn't full of gift ideas, so the other three can wives can help with birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays for the fourth. Remember - this is an open, consensual relationship. You don't have to sneak around. It might actually be easier than trying to remember one set of wifely holidays all by myself.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg of positives. Three incomes in the household, plus a free, full-time caregiver for the kids. Four sets of hands to deal with cleaning, making dinner, and taking care of the sick baby, the needy toddler, and the damned dog that has to pee as soon as everybody's busy. Four people to rotate getting up to rock whoever can't sleep, rather than me getting up seventeen times. Some back-up when you're sick but life has to go on regardless. An instant crew for yard work, painting, shoveling snow, spring cleaning, and the like.

I'm actually pretty jealous of that guy. Last week my wife was up all night every night with a sick baby and I was up all night every night with a sick toddler. By the weekend we were both miserable zombies. If I was that guy we could have had a rotation set up that allowed us to take care of the kids and sleep. Alas, that's not an option for me because Christian rules have been imposed on my private life.

Oh well...

Seriously, though, why do (some?) conservative Christians care so much about marriages other than their own? Who cares if two men, or three women and a man, or two men and three women, or whatever want to get hitched? If it's offensive to god then surely he can sort that out. Why can't you just mind your own fences and leave it at that? Where in the Bible does it say that all of Christendom has to be god's hall monitors?

I think that's the frantic reality of having kids in the developed world. Polygamy is out for religious reasons, and for some reason we also gave up on multi-generational households. And now it's getting really tough for most of us to support a family on one income. Consequently everybody works, we pay through the nose for strangers to raise our kids, and we get no sleep when the little buggers are sick or unsettled.

It's kind of stupid when you think about it...

Loved your first post ed! Brilliant.

As for why it's Biblically wrong? C'mon! Seriously? One man, one woman united in flesh.

Agree with your other point though. We should remove the plank from our own eye first. And leave the judging to God.

But if we all truly lived as Christians, there would be that kind of support around.
Agree about the multi generational households, we all live our seperate, fragmented family lives rather than embrace a huge family. Miss out on the wisdom of the older generation, pack them off as decrepit.

My youngest two are my sisters kids biologically.
They were going to be placed in foster care and and I couldn't have that, so I have been raising them since they were 18 months, just before Christmas I got full parental responsibility until 18.
I guess in a sense I see that as a multi-generational household. My eldest sister has our 'problem sisters' eldest child who is now 13. Whom I have supported in so many ways over the years.
We are doing this as a family, helping and supporting each other.
For me polygamy isn't out for purely religious reasons but more a case of jealously and well if I'm not top of that heap it'll fall and burn damn quick

No, she's a supremely indifferent agnostic.

I'm not actually interested in getting another wife. I haven't bothered to broach the subject with the wife I have now, but I doubt she'd be receptive, either. But man, there are times when it sure would be convenient.

Polygamy is anti Christian? It isn't recommended or encouraged (but was granted by Him because of human stubbornness and He had to see the good that CAN come from it must outweigh the negative). But show me where this is biblically wrong? And then damn most the OT kings.

The question, for US, is not whether or not the OT patriarchs were allowed to have plural marriages. The question is, for us, TODAY, is this allowed. I would say not.
