I was following an old thread sorta about this topic, though it got really verbose really fast.
I currently understand it as setting aside one's own (self-)righteousness and instead picking up the yoke of shame -- of pushing the debt of our own sins onto Jesus, trusting that Jesus can make up for our transgressions in a way that we cannot.
Then, it is this shame, this indebtedness that (usually, but not necessarily?) compels us to change, bearing the fruit of good works done in His name.
Thoughts?
What's it mean to believe in Jesus?

Well first off,if you believe in Jesus? Then you will be willing to obey him as best as humanly possible to do,but it all starts with salvation, then once you are saved you just simply grow as a Christian as long as you continue to put your faith in him,you will want to know as much as you can about what he did for you,you will read the bible and study it,you will pray and ask for forgiveness and what you can't do Jesus will take up your slack even when you don't deserve it as long as you believe in Jesus.

Hebrews 12:2-3 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
2nd Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of this glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,should shine unto them.

Well, originally I was going to try and list all the things believing in Jesus meant but I`ll stick with believing in Jesus means salvation.patrick wrote:I was following an old thread sorta about this topic, though it got really verbose really fast.

I read through the old thread and now I need to go back and read it more carefully. One thing that struck me was repentance doesn`t appear to be a factor, it`s just belief. First I thought, yeah, okay that makes sense but then the devil believes in Christ.
I`ll go post on that thread so I don`t derail this one

A-net,
I'll wait until you post on the other thread, before I reply.
