Concerning my thoughts are kinda 50%/50% (mother language and English), if you know 3 or more languages, does it go to 33%/33%/33%, 25%/25%/25%/25%, etc?
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.
I'm fluent in English. I took Spanish 1,2, and 3 in high school. But I forgot most of what I learned. I've lived in north Florida for almost 11 years now, and I can't speak it, but I can understand American Redneck.
So, I guess that's 3 languages.

You speak man, surely that counts?
"....grunt..food..women..food...grunt"
Actually, I wonder about FL... Surely he would speak a few?
5 years of Latin under my belt, 3 semesters of Spanish, (much like you Rick) and English. Though I will say that, thanks to my knowledge of Latin, my English is particularly good, because of all the derivative words from Latin that help supplement my vocabulary. And I practice it too by reading prose.

Thanks for answering the second question which is the main one...
Oh, hrm...
We never spoke Latin, but sometimes I will "think" in Latin. Maybe about 5% of the time. But the Spanish, not so much, unless I'm chatting with a Mexican friend during online gaming sessions. I have rarely if ever needed to use my Spanish.

I am fluent in English, Slang and Profanity.
Aren't we all?

As for the second question, wouldn't it depend a lot on how often you have need to use it? I can understand ESL competing up to ~50% against one's mother's tongue, considering English is something of a global language. But I don't see this happening in most cases.
I'm only fluent in English, but I often have dreams where someone converses with me in Finnish and occasionally in Spanish (two other languages I've studied). What's interesting is that I've studied Japanese for longer, and still am studying it, but almost never does the same happen in Japanese.
I can only speak English y un poco de espaniol -- pero sólo lo suficiente para mantener una conversación básica. Reading, on the other hand, is a different story entirely. I lost count around 50 or so.

And that, brothers and sisters, is the kind of foolishness you get people who insist on denying biblical theism. A good illustration of any as the length people will go to avoid acknowledging basic truths.
