Yeah, the ability of a substance to cause addiction depends upon it's LEGAL status? Wrong!

The AVAILABILITY of an addictive substance impacts addiction rates? Of course!

The LEGALITY of an addictive substance impacts addiction rates? Absolutely!

The LEGALITY of an addictive substance makes availability far more accessible. Yes.

The more people who have access to an addictive substance, the more people will come addicted? Absolutely!

Addicted people will shun addictive substances simply because they are illegal. Of course not!

Most addicts are happy they are addicted? Of course not!

Most addicts are happy they began using an addictive substance? No!

Most addicts would like to be free of their addiction? Of course!

Jail changes addiction rates? Not so much!

Jail is a good approach to addiction rates? Not so much! But it MIGHT prevent SOME from using an addictive substance to begin with.

Addiction is better dealt with criminally or medically? Medically!

Take away it's criminality, addiction is a harmless issue? No - it still impacts families so devastated and causes immense costs for treatment, loss of productivity of the addict, of time and money of family and friends. Drug addiction is NOT a victimless crime - whether the drug use is legal or not - there is immense cost to victims and their friends and families, and NO cessation of criminal drug laws will ever change that. Oh, whoopee, we can tax drug use!

People who use drugs that cause impairment are of no danger to themselves or others? Another dumb question!

Drugs have neat categories - people never begin with less harmful ones and then progress to other things? Stupid question!

People using "recreational drugs" that are lots of fun, never want to waste untold hours getting wasted? Oh, NEVER!

The tax money created by taxing formerly illegal substances more than offsets any harm caused to society or peoples' health and their impact upon their friends, families and incurred dependencies. Anyone who thinks so, I really wonder how they think this.

Just some random thoughts! y:-?

Instead of thinking about, or asking what I might mean.

Once I ate half a tequila worm. I was laying in bed afterwards, and I was having hallucinations of a rat crawling down my throat.

You may want to avoid some of the traditional Chinese remedies if you are going to be that high strung.

But the chicken has to be prepared the right way first. It needs to be slowly killed by water boarding, then deep fried. Yum!

And please don't substitute cat for chicken, as many Chinese restaurants do.

Do you know anything about what is done to chickens or ducks to cook them for
certain chinese dishes?

No. But something tells me that's why you are so upset about me enjoying delicious chicken.

but seriously, I am not upset, not with you.

Its just, the whole thing of people eating animals makes me sad, and then they just joke about it.

I don't get it - joking about people eating animals - it's like joking about the weather - it's joking about something that is natural, that just IS. People have been eating animals as long as their have been people. Now, reveling in cruelty to animals is another matter - a terrible thing.

y:-?

WHAT barbarities? A hungry omnivore, a bear, his body is designed to eat both meat and vegetarian sources of nutrition. He runs out of berries, he kills whatever protein source he desires, that he has the opportunity to kill - chickens, eggs, young deer, fish, young coyotes or wolves. A bear merely lives as he is so designed. Is that barbaric? I could plug a man into the same equation, excepting that if he were to kill another human for food, that would be barbaric and sick. But if that man kills whatever animal for food, as long as the kill is quick, and the specie is not endangered - how is that in any way barbaric? If we are all a hierarchy of lifeforms preying upon other species, then what do you define as barbaric? If a man harvests a plant - which is a life form - why is that any different from him eating a fish or killing a deer for its meat? Why would it be wrong to kill a deer but not a plant or fish? What should any Darwinist call a successful predator? An animal skilled in furthering it's opportunities for living longer and producing more offspring, that's what!
