Re: My journey
Sounds like her combined score is 15 short of the top score. She needs to work a little harder.
She sounds like the classic under achiever.
I can't believe you allow such mediocrity.
All kidding aside, she obviously must get her brains from the other side of the family.

Since when does the Church of England allow mediocrity?
A catholic school would never put up with anything but perfection.

Re: My journey
Ha de ha.
Heres a thing though....
I prayed for a good school.
Had to say why we chose that school.
Truth is God chose that school in answer to my prayers.
I found out a few weeks ago, as a child I was baptised in a C of E church.

Just kidding. I don't know a whole lot about the C of E, other than it's English, therefore the congregants have bad teeth.Storyteller wrote:Do tell....
So they're pretty much the same as the churches around here.

Re: My journey
Might be interesting to research.
What startled me was the the fsct I was baptised, considering my parents, my mum in particular, feel its a cult type thing to follow God.
Know what sprang to mind then? And Byblos, ES et al, forgive me, I thought about Catholicism.
NOT that I think Catholicism is any way a cult. But. it is structured, with rituals, beliefs and ways. rules.
I have been brought so much closer to Christ, directly because of the influence of Catholics, Byblos, you urged me to seek truth, to research, to question. ES, you encouraged me to learn, you believed in me, you offered something I cannot out into words.
I know Christ, He is wooing me. I am saved because Christ told me so.
Christ is my Saviour.
My Lord.
I believe in Him.
I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
(Remembered the verse, just not which one if was, but its a start)

Except, if you choose to be Catholic, you're not saved because Christ told you so. You can only hope that you die in the state of grace.Storyteller wrote:

Re: My journey
I considered continuing this in pm because all joking aside I have a lot of respect for the Catholics on here but its precisely because I respect you all that I will post it here and i am genuinely interested in discussing this but please, please, its not about whos right. or any kind of competition, I just want to know why you believe what you believe.
Anyway...
I googled Catholicism state of grace....
first hit was catholic answers, I dont recognise it, sanctifying grace..
I know im a sinner, but God forgives me because I repent, truly.
He knows my heart.
One day, I will stand before my Lord, through the grace of my Lord because Christ died for all of my sin.
Not one of us is worthy.
Personally, I dont think God sees any difference between mortal sin and any other sin. Unless ive misunderstood it.
What i mean is sin is sin. End of.
I pray, all the time.
I talk to God, all the time.
Ithank Him. all the time.
I walk with Him, well He walks with me, but you get the drift.
All the time.
I love Him worship Him. All the time.
But.
I cant fit in church.
I dont think, in fact I know God doesnt care.
Not yet, anyway.

If that's how you feel, then thank God you're not Catholic. They'd excommunicate you faster than Luther.

Re: My journey
There is a lot there that resonates though.
And every Catholic on here has been open, thoughtful and a delight to discuss things with.
When I first started this thread, it was a way of reaching out, finding out what people think, sharing ideas, seeing if, by any chance, my thoughts on my faith were justifiable, recognisable, true. I foundChrist, and so much more.
Catholicism holds so many truths, it offers me personally a lot of things I yearn for, but gor now, Christ is enough.

Re: My journey
To be fair though, no Catholic has ever said that to me.
Many a Protestant has though.
Funny how we interpret things.
