Re: Evolution has a BA
Look up the definition of Thomas Edison. Again a description with no backing evidence. Its an encyclopedia! Short summaries so that the user can have a general idea of the topic.Jbuza wrote:This reads like pros not scientific fact, How can this be claimed as fact with no evidence?
“The virtually infinite variations of life are the fruit of the evolutionary process. All living creatures are related by descent from common ancestors. Humans and other mammals are descended from shrewlike creatures that lived more than 150,000,000 years ago; mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes share as ancestors aquatic worms that lived 600,000,000 years ago; all plants and animals are derived from bacteria-like microorganisms that originated more than 3,000,000,000 years ago. Biological evolution is a process of descent with modification. Lineages of organisms change through generations; diversity arises because the lineages that descend from common ancestors diverge through time” (“Evolution,” Britannica 2003 Deluxe Edition CD-ROM).
The evidence lies elsewhere and would not fit on the CD.

You keep telling yourself that.Jbuza wrote:There is no evidence that supports stating the above as fact. I realize it is an encyclopedic entry, but it suggests that it is fact, and that indeed there is evidence for it. There is none. IT is an art, there is so much story in evolution theory that it isn't science.

(typo corrected for clarity)Jbuza wrote:This reads like prose not scientific fact, How can this be claimed as fact with no evidence?
Because, whether it is true or not, such a view is accepted as true by an overwhelming majority of scientists, some of whom no doubt wrote the entry. [Similarly, the encyclopedia may say that the Maya were a peaceful people, when recent research suggests otherwise.] Does it mention anything about ID, creationism, or controversy regarding evolution ?

"My actions prove that God takes care of idiots."
He occasionally stumbled over the truth, but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if nothing had happened.

An atheist can't find God for the same reason a criminal can't find a police officer.
You need to start asking out girls so that you can get used to the rejections.
