Julian Assange - US Try to Shut Down
First Kerry threatens Ecuador leading to his Internet being turned off, then UK police stormed the embassy before back out. I guess the truth is really hurting those in power?

Re: Julian Assange - US Try to Shut Down
I for one am glad to see the US finally pushing back against the interference of Assange and Putin in the United States election.
This year, for their own reasons, Putin and Assange are targeting Clinton. But who knows who foreign powers will choose to target in future elections. America needs to respond decisively to cyberwarfare against the United States, just like it would against any other attack on our country. And I do consider foreign interference in the United States electoral process to be an attack on our country... even if the target is a political figure who I am deeply opposed to.

I am well aware of the 'hook, line, and sinker' that I've swallowed. And as a US citizen, it is a 'hook, line, and sinker' that I have no qualms about swallowing.Kurieuo wrote:Bah. Seems you've swallowed hook, line and sinker.
I am also acquainted with the 'hook, line, and sinker' that you have apparently swallowed.

Re: Julian Assange - US Try to Shut Down
I don't think you are aware of it, there is no evidence at all at Russia hacking, nor Wikileaks interfering in the elections other than releasing information that people have a right to know. I don't think you watched the video either, so to bring it back on-topic...
US breaks laws all the time, invading countries uninvited. It doesn't respect any other nation, and the British government have just broken international law as the behest, no doubt, of the US. For police to storm an embassy, such is an invasion and violation of international treaty (Vienna Convention formed in 1921). The police who just stormed the embassy, as soon as they leave the UK, they can now be extradited to Ecuador -- as should any in the US who were apart of any such plan.
No doubt that brought a smile to some, like what?!? The US should respect and subscribe to some laws "lesser" country? The US doesn't have the right to break with International treaties as it sees fit? Pfft. I find such arrogance disgusting.

Agreed. This is bigger than a single election - these hacks, along with the attack yesterday, could be proof of concept tests for something a lot bigger.DBowling wrote:I for one am glad to see the US finally pushing back against the interference of Assange and Putin in the United States election.

K, if the CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, and every other American security agency says that there's a 90% probability that Russia is behind the hacking then Russia is probably behind the hacking. Assange is very deliberately interfering in our election. He's releasing e-mails in drips and drabs in order to make sure that the story stays on the front pages for the duration of the election. All the evidence points to Russia trying to select our next President. That's a hostile act, and when you make a hostile act against a super power you should expect a response.

Hillary lied, again. There's only been suspicions and allegations leveled, and I'm sure Hillary has the likes of the FBI in her pocket if Comey is anything to go by.

Well, I got mislead, that speech with Assange was from 2012.
Nonetheless, there was "apparently" armed forces (reported on Wikileak's Twitter). Assange hasn't been heard from for a bit.

That's intelligence community speak for "Russia did it." There's zero ambiguity there. That's a straight-forward accusation. The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities.

I wouldn't hold this against Russia too much.
We do that crap to them and other all the time.
The US complaining about foreign influence during elections is like China complaining about unfair trade practices !
LOL !

Re: Julian Assange - US Try to Shut Down
What is the evidence? Actual facts of the matter. None are stated, but rather words like "it looks like the work of Russia" and the like. Nothing would hold up in a court of law. There are no facts stated. And when asked exactly what the evidence is, none is ever presented. I'm sure if they had it, it would be said.
Second, Putin and Russia flatly deny the claims and on the contrary seem quite logical and measured. For now, they seem to be putting aside Hillary's threats and the like, believing such to be just a game for POTUS.
Third, it ain't all intelligence agencies saying this as Hillary suggests.
Fourth, to the contrary, Hillary has a lot of political motivation and DNC have been setting up the Russia narrative from the beginning. Leaks reveal this "Russia game" in leaked emails. Trump bromance with Putin, that they shouldn't push it too far and focus elsewhere. Having tied in Trump as in bed with Putin, then villainising Russia as Nazi Germany and committing the worst humanitarian crimes since Nazi Germany (Kerry), and all that other bull... in fact, a war with Russia is said would go down well for Hillary. In any case, there are a lot of motivation for such a narrative on the Democrat side and a complete moron would over look this.
Fifth, Hillary is now known to have paid of the FBI. They're in her pocket. No one believes that Comey came to an honest decision. Congress has pretty much torn him apart over the whole investigation of Hillary's emails. And, there have been internal leaks that much of the FBI team thought she would be prosecuted. The decision was a top-down decision and we all know how Loretta Lynch met with Bill Clinton privately.
I know the mainstream is pumping hard the "evil Russia" narrative, but it's all smoke and mirrors.

Re: Julian Assange - US Try to Shut Down
Final point. As to countries or organisations like Wikileaks influencing the US elections by informing.
If the US is allowed to influence and mess up other countries, then even if such were true, it's fair game.
Americans who cry foul on this point seriously need to take a hard look at their own country.

Of course we should hold it against them. Whether or not we've also committed acts of jackassery* is irrelevant. I'd be happy if our government would stop with the shenanigans, but in the meantime I want them protecting our interests.PaulSacramento wrote:I wouldn't hold this against Russia too much.

It's kind of like our issues with terrorism. I think that a lot of that is self-infected, and if we changed our way of doing things then we'd have fewer issues, but in the meantime we're at war.
* Obviously we have. Frequently. Egregiously.
China has plenty of room to complain about unfair trade practices. We worked with Europe to subjugate them and create unequal trade relationships, not to mention going to war with them when they tried to stop Westerners from selling opium to their people. But again, it's not in our interests to declare that fair is fair and let China have their way with us, even if it would be the fair thing to do.PaulSacramento wrote:The US complaining about foreign influence during elections is like China complaining about unfair trade practices !

Trump cleared of connection to Russia: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/po ... trump.html
Only a matter of time before Wikileaks will be cleared also. It was all just smearing to cause a try distract from the content within (didn't work in the end). As Podesta said in an email, blame someone regardless of any real evidence.

Re: Julian Assange - US Try to Shut Down
From the article...Kurieuo wrote:Trump cleared of connection to Russia: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/po ... trump.html
A few things from the article...Law enforcement officials say that none of the investigations so far have found any conclusive or direct link between Mr. Trump and the Russian government. And even the hacking into the Democratic emails, F.B.I. and intlligence officials now believe, was aimed at disrupting the presidential election rather than electing Mr. Trump.
... The F.B.I's inquiries into Russia's possible role continue, as does the investigation into the emails involving Mrs. Clintons top aide, Huma Abedin...
... Intelligence officials have said in interviews over the last six weeks that apparent connections between some of Mr. Trump's aides and Moscow originally compelled them to open a broad investigation into possible links between the Russian candidate and the Republican candidate. Still, they they have said that Mr. Trump has not become a target...
... Investigators, the officials said, have become increasingly confident, based on the evidence they have uncovered, that Russia's direct goal is not to support the election of Mr. Trump, as many Democrats have asserted, but rather to disrupt the integrity of the political system and undermine America's standing in the world more broadly...
At the moment the FBI has found no conclusive evidence of a direct link between Trump and the Russian government.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The intelligence community confirms that the hacks are from Russia, and that Russia is deliberately interfering in the American election.
