I have spoken at length with progressives and even communists as to why the media is slanted. The honest ones do NOT deny that there is a lean in media narratives. But it goes to one of two explanations:
1. The bias comes from ebil corporationz who are only after money
2. The media companies are simply covering both sides the same, and if one side seems more negative than the other, that's because perception is reality. Though you would have to have cognitive dissonance to the extreme to buy that. Probably the more Orwellian answer, rather than being Machiavellian and just saying, as Harry Reid once said "Well.....he didn't win, did he?" ends and means the same
