This verse does not say anything about losing salvation. Paul is talking about being disqualified for rewards.

This is where you need to read what it actually says, not read your theology into it.

See were I underlined it. It is Paul saying that like others that he preached to are disqualified he makes him self a slave so he is not disqualified as well.

He was not saying that the people he had preached to that were disqualified were disqualified form reward but from being saved.

And we're back to your works salvation again.

If this is talking about salvation loss, and not rewards loss, then you're making the verse say that Paul is worried about being adokimos "unqualified" for salvation. And as we all should know, none of us are qualified for salvation, because salvation is a gift based on grace, not on our works, or our being qualified.

No matter how you slice it, you're preaching a works salvation.

All true believers - those who have truly submitted i faith to Christ, believing that He is Who He claimed to be, and truly believe in His Resurrection, ARE saved. NOwhere in Scripture do we see it stated that a true believer - a person specifically described to have once been a truly saved person, to have later quit believing. What we see are the superficial types that associated, admired, gave lip service, and for awhile physically followed Jesus, but then fell away. Again, Judas is the poster boy for this type of belief. Because the Jesus those people wanted was not the REAL Lord, but an assemblage of a mental construct born of their own sinful desires, as for what he might do for them, or for Israel, etc.

So, those verses we're discussing are about the truth of the Gospel, and those who truly have embraced the Gospel PAUL PREACHED - as opposed to some false or Gnostic gospel.

Paul is simply encouraging them to 'remember what I preached to you'.

No one was in danger of loosing their salvation.

It strikes me as being Sad that a person is Determined to hang onto the premise of possibly loosing their salvation , If......
That person is Not acknowledging God as being Strong enough to keep believers. That would be putting God on Our level. We are weak -- We loose things -- We loose track of people ---- GOD All-powerful -- has All- knowledge -- He knows who belongs to us and Won't loose any of us.

Society is in such a mindset to Permit Any kind of behavior. A 'if it feels good go ahead and Do it' Society. We are to tolerate anything / everything. No wonder 'everyone' seems to be so 'screwed up'. A person can go into a church -- hear the plan of salvation -- go forward for counseling-- and possibly Never be seriously questioned about Why they came forward and whether they actually DO understand what they are being told. They don't want any person to leave the counseling room a sinner. But -- does that 'sinner' Really understand are they Really ready TO accept Jesus Christ as personal Savior. God IS the only One who Really knows our hearts -- BUT -- Other people Should observe evidence of salvation having taken place. There Should be someone who disciples that 'new believer' -- what situation is that person going back into. We Should be able to see spiritual growth taking place -- we Should see that new believer Wanting to share with other people. We Should observe that person Wanting to quite smoking or 'whatever'. We should NOT simply say -- 'they are new believer -- change takes time -- and 'so what if they're content to live with together with someone they aren't married to' Or so What if they are homosexual -- God understands. But God says He HATES those activities.

Society tells us to Permit all sorts of non-Biblical activities. But - what does God's Word tell us. But None of that applies to possibly Loosing our salvation if we Don't follow through. It means we Will do things -- Because God loves us and we love Him. And we Want to please Him.

And, yes, it is our rewards we miss out on -- not our salvation. There ARE rewards to look forward to -- but they will be laid at Jesus feet. And there will be lack Of rewards -- and we will regret that. We Will regret that which we Could have done for God, For people and Didn't for whatever reason.

I think scripture is pretty clear that after you are dead and after you are standing in the throne room of God it is to late. So I guess we all agree that no unbelievers are going to heaven.

In the first place, I've never seen a Christian on this site claim that any unbeliever will go to Heaven. But you are asking the wrong question. The question should be, WHERE do unbelievers end up, and how long are they there? Unless you believe they somehow cease to exist, the unbelieving dead don't go to everlasting life, but the everlasting PUNISHMENT.

Define "unbeliever".

If you define an unbeliever as someone who has NEVER believed/trusted in Christ for salvation, then I agree with you.

But if you define "unbeliever", as someone who has trusted Christ, has passed from death to everlasting life, then has a moment(however long) where he doesn't believe, then you're wrong.

Interesting, don't you think, that Paul states has CONFIDENCE in what He says about this matter. And equally interesting is what Paul DOESN'T assert - he doesn't say that he has confidence in the believers he is addressing, or their supposed ability to persevere in their faith; he doesn't say, "I'm sure that you Christians will persevere in your faith until your last breath. He says NOTHING about PEOPLE having any role in their ability to stay faithful. WHO, Jpbg, does Paul say will bring "their faith through to the end?" GOD!!! ONLY, God! And, let me also ask you, Jpbg, how could Paul make such a statement - that he is "SURE" of something (their salvation) that YOU say is dependent upon mortal men - maintaining their faith to the very end. And, FINALLY, you acknowledged that you yourself CAN'T be CERTAIN that you will remain faithful or end up in Heaven - because you admitted you can't see your future self. This means you believe that there is at least a portion of your salvation that is dependent upon yourself - a very unScriptural belief.

And lest one forgets, this is Scripture (Paul's assertion of confidence) we're speaking of, when referencing Paul's statement in Phillipians.

If it's "belief" that saves, since we all agree everyone will believe, all should be saved. HOWEVER, I tell you, some who believe (1) aren't Believers (2). And, vice-versa everyone will be a believer (1), but not all are Believers (2).

Evidently, what is a "believer" vs. "Believer" needs some qualifying so-as to not be contradictory. Until you define what you mean by Believer, who can answer your question? Perhaps many here may even ultimately agree with you.
