What do you think - he's considering Mitt of Sec. of State? Romney totally trashed Trump, and now he's all smiles at his recent position-vetting dinners. Mitt called Trump a "phony" and a "fraud" who was "playing ... the American people for suckers." In a March speech, Romney also rebuked Trump for what he called "bullying" and "misogyny."
Boy, does that photo ever show where Trump thinks Romney is in HIS food chain? LOL. ("Mitt, you're not grovelling enough - here, have some more crow!")
What do you think about such a choice, and why do you think Trump would even consider him?

Trump was going to choose Hillary, but it seems she may be going "up state" soon. So his second choice was Mitt Romney.

As a sign of unity, Trump should offer Hillary Clinton ambassadorship to LibyaRickD wrote:Trump was going to choose Hillary, but it seems she may be going "up state" soon. So his second choice was Mitt Romney.

I don't know what to think yet. I've mentioned Michael Savage on here before and how he is my favorite radio talk host but he seems to think Trump has been taken over by the RNC establishment because he made Rince Priebus his CoS and how Trump probably cut a deal with them. He has been hammering Trump about it and now Trump won't come on his radio show, although he did several times before the election. I like Michael Savage and respect his view but not sure I agree yet.I'm going to give Trump the benefit of the doubt until he is actually in office.

Yeah,I know I've been drinking Trump kool-aid and it is good, tastes much better than politician kool-aid.

I think Romney was 100% right in what he said about Trump during the campaign, and I was happy to see someone in the Republican party actually stand up to Trump's bullying and lies during the campaign.
So what's going on here?
I really don't know.
From Trump's perspective, I think he's enjoying making Romney grovel and twist in the wind. I personally can't imagine a person as vindictive as Trump choosing Romney to be his Secretary of State... although I think Romney could potentially provide a sorely needed steady hand for international relations.
The thing that puzzles me is why is Romney going along with this charade? Romney has stood up to Trump in the past, why start sucking up to him now?
This doesn't make sense to me from the perspective of either Trump or Romney...
Unless... maybe... Trump is more thoughtful and magnanimous than I give him credit for, and he is honestly considering Romney for Secretary of State...
Nope... that can't be it...

Ah, but we can pray that to be the case, can we not?Unless... maybe... Trump is more thoughtful and magnanimous than I give him credit for, and he is honestly considering Romney for Secretary of State...
Ever the cynic, eh?Nope... that can't be it...
Thing is, people just don't understand Trump in key ways. One, he's a New Yorker. He came up in a tough environment where saber rattling and posturing was a means of survival - and the culture of NY business and politics is no different. It's an extremely male-oriented and aggressive culture. That's what he was schooled in. It's not about showing class and charm, but in showing toughness and an attitude that people are not going to threaten your turf. And business culture can be ruthless. Guys running big companies must make countless hard decisions that leave very little room for emotion, and finesse can often be wielded with a hatchet. And when someone has been extremely successful in that culture - especially a survivor like Trump, with so many nipping at his heals - well, he's not gonna change what helped him to become so successful and to have survived. He's been rich, mega rich, poorER, and then wealthier than when was down.
Trump is the type of person who trusts virtually no one. He can spot hypocrisy a mile away. Guys like him know of the cunning and ruthlessness of others. And especially for women and younger people from other parts of the country, who didn't grow up in such a tough environment or macho culture, guys like Trump can come off exceptionally crude. They verbally and otherwise will ruthlessly attack perceived threats. And the nature of his business, the many NY pies his family has had their fingers in - it's naturally drawn him into the political angle of things - with all of its intrigue and nastiness. Fabulous wealth and it's tentacles, the politics involved - these things help explain a lot of why Trump is the way that he is. I've worked with a lot of wealthy developers and real estate owners, corporate heads, lawyers, etc. - and I've seen this world and how they operate - perhaps not quite at Trump's level, but it's the same attitude and approach. It's brutal. And it takes exceptionally tough people to navigate it. So, it MIGHT have well prepared Trump for his role in a tough economy, and in our often ruthless world. A lot of great leaders - people who know how to get things done - well, they also have some big flaws. The question is, can they tame or keep their excesses in check, while letting their positive traits excel. We'll see! One thing is certain, like him or not, he's gonna be our president. We should be praying for him to be a great leader.
