i dont know know about good guys or bad guys. there is good and bad in all of us. i personally choose not to vote. it is my personal opinion that God is in charge, He is actually the one who puts someone into office. So i am satisfied with whoever is president, it all works out according to His plan
some things are better left unsaid, which i generally realize after i have said them

Jenna,

I didn't know you live in Australia. Australia has a state named Alabama, too? Is it next to NSW?

I think we all just assume that NZ is part of Australia. You know, a sort of red headed step child of Australia.

In other words, NZ is an island belonging to Australia, like Japan is an island belonging to China. :D

I guess I learned something new today. Alabama is considered "down under".

You do the best with what you have. The two main Australian parties aren't drawn along Christian/secular lines like they appear to be in the US (while one party does try to play that angle to get the Christian vote).

One main difference are in the philosophies of social economics. One believes in distributing wealth to the poor, the other believes living standards can be lifted by making profitable businesses more successful and such filters down. The former believes in socialism and people need a helping hand, the latter believes in making individuals more responsible for themselves. The values of the former are more left-wing Democrat, the latter is generally more conservative in values (though by conservative we're talking perhaps a right-wing Democrat NOT Republican).
