Idolatry?
Does anyone find something wrong in these? Like, bowing down to the statue and kissing another one?
Is this idolatry? You could say that it is not since you do not worship the statue for what it is, but for what it represents. Well, any pagan can say the same (and probably will, lol).

Re: Idolatry?
So you are bowing down to a man-made object created to represent a god you respect so much that you will bow to a mere representative image of him (or her / or whatever)? So, really, what's the difference - as you are responding to a belief of the heart and mind in a false god you recognize and are showing reverence for. The issue isn't bowing, but the object that your heart, mind and actions are recognizing and showing reverence for?Ice: you could say that it is not since you do not worship the statue for what it is, but for what it represents.

Re: Idolatry?
Because you are showing reverence to an object, not God Himself. it would be the same as if they made a golden calf, to represent God. this was done once, and that didnt turn out too well.Philip wrote:So you are bowing down to a man-made object created to represent a god you respect so much that you will bow to a mere representative image of him (or her / or whatever)? Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

I wasn't referring to the link or Catholics in any way - as unfortunately, I did not click the link. My comments were only to the worship of images and idols in general.Byblos: A little education goes a long way.

Re: Idolatry?
I can understand why God dislikes idolatry so much. You would basically be worshipping rocks, trees and grass, when it was Him who allowed them to come into creation.
It's a lot like a kid not helping with the groceries, then eating them and thanking Captain Crunch for always being in the fridge for them. Ungrateful.

1) Store milk in fridge
2) Store Cap'n Crunch in sealed package inside original box, in pantry, or cabinet

Even understanding the Catholic apologetic that such is not worship, such still makes me feel ill.IceMobster wrote:Does anyone find something wrong in these? Like, bowing down to the statue and kissing another one?

That's because you're a pathetic, Protestant heretic. Come back to the one true, Catholic Church.Kurieuo wrote:Even understanding the Catholic apologetic that such is not worship, such still makes me feel ill.IceMobster wrote:Does anyone find something wrong in these?
