Language is language and Pappa, Father, Dad, Pep-Paw, Abba, okay with me. I think God understands and is not worried about this at all. People are, but God, No such problem.

But for me, I have trouble with Abba though due to the change in word meaning due to a 80's-90's era singing group of blonds... Dancing queen ya now what I mean... arrgggrrg...can't stand that group but I think Rick has all their albums... learned this as it was recently leaked from the Russians, Putin said so...

I've read articles that say it does not mean daddy or papa cos its irreverent...

I have a vague memory as a little child of my dad saying I am to call him dad or father... perhaps I had called him daddy? Dont know.

It matters to me because some articles are saying we are to relate to God as a grown up not in childish ways and using childish terms.

Abba is a transliteration of the Aramaic abba, which is the equivalent of the English term "father".

At least that's how I understand it.
John 5:24
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Abba is just an affectionate way of saying Father.
It doesn't mean or needs to be translated other than Father as long as a person understands that it is a more familiar and loving way to say it.
Sure, in terms of English, we don't have those distinctions and because of that we look for words to convey that and that is why Daddy would be a valid translation.
Anyone can call someone "father" but only a person in a loving relationship would call him "daddy".
