Burden of Disbelief?
People abandon their faith all the time, and a lot of people eventually believe religion will eventually be left behind. So lets just say for curiosity's sake you lived for I don't know, 500 more years, and the church was all but gone. Would you keep the faith? And if not, what would convince you to leave?
