Actually, in the photo, Applewhite looks like one of the aliens on the bridge viewing screen on the original Star Trek.

I think his name was Balok. The character, as it turned out, did not have any malicious intent and certainly did not have a distorted view of Christianity. A trustworthy individual indeed.
