Sounds similar to a guy I know who got in a severe wreck several years ago and was pronounced clinically dead. He was a bad kid and tried to ruin people's lives and was into gangs and other stuff. Then, while dead he said he met Jesus and Jesus said that he had to go to earth again for a mission. This mission was to help other people, which he has numerous times, and to change from his former ways. He also said another time that God told him he would be able to walk even though the doctors said he wouldn't. Basically he had a Saul on the road to Damascus transformation.
