Intelligent Design: Models

Post by Kurieuo »

I notice many appear confused over distinctions between philosophical design arguments for God, Creationism (Young Earth), and Intelligent Design. I'm hoping the question posed will help to clarify what ID is.

Which ID model seems most plausible to you?

1) Directed Panspermia (e.g., as advocated by Francis Crick, the co-discoverer of the DNA structure).
2) RTB's Creation Model
3) Young-Earth Creationism
4) Flying Spaghetti Monster Creationism
5) Other

Could you post a description of Young-Earth Creationism. I don't know much about it.

Not worth reading about (I should know)
"My actions prove that God takes care of idiots."

He occasionally stumbled over the truth, but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if nothing had happened.

-Winston Churchill

An atheist can't find God for the same reason a criminal can't find a police officer.

You need to start asking out girls so that you can get used to the rejections.

Directed Panspermia is by Intelligent guided means, but then that means evolution happened, which I wouldn't have a problem with at all in this case. It is when people claim that everything came from nothing I have issues with. I voted for the RTB's Creation Model. :)

I'm fascinated by the RTB model. What I would really like to see is evidence not only that it predicts certain scientific discoveries, but that such predictions have been made.

Otherwise I would change the word to 'anticipates' rather than 'predicts'.

None - I'm really not a big fan of "Intelligent Design".

I think that it may have been assumed that everyone knew what young earth creation is.

It is derived from the historical time line provided in the Bible, and depends on a simple reading of the first bit of Genesis.

Other than that bit it is the exact same observations and measurments used in "science".

There is a brief description by Norman Geisler at http://www.ankerberg.com/Articles/science/SC0305W3.htm/, and also a more deeper take see http://www.ankerberg.com/Articles/science/SC0704W1.htm. That should explain things, including the differences, arguments each side, and so forth.
