He's got a point, but until we have the means to do wide scale, rapid testing we can't implement the approach that he recommends. The only thing worse than staying shut down too long would be staying shut down long enough to cause a major recession but not long enough to contain the virus, and then having a second major outbreak in the middle of an economic catastrophe.

Seems like we're looking at A) the economy is crippled for a decade, B) the Boomers get decimated, or C) both. All I can say for sure is that C is definitely the worst outcome.

I've found the biggest reason people often believe in nonsense is simply because they have personal motivations that are typically rooted in either emotional, psychological or group-thinking, and thus they are determined to cling to whatever belief, even when powerful facts should make them reconsider their position as well as their "logic" that somehow produced their belief.
