Bore our sins in his body
Jesus didn't literally bear our sins in his physical body so how do we explain this?

Re: Bore our sins in his body
What does that even mean? I.e., do we "bear" our sins in our own physical bodies?

The wages of sin is death. Yep, we bear our sins in our "own physical bodies".

So Phil, you're redefining "sin" as "consequence of sin"?
Is that what people mean when they say Jesus bore our sins in his own body on the tree?

Oh, dang. I thought it was you that replied. Sorry. That best redirected to FG then.
You know, I just think it good to explore what is meant when people string together such words. Hate religious sentiment and talk, it becomes meaningless e.g., "Jesus died on the cross for my sin" = religious words strung together and said so much it becomes meaningless. Or more here: "Jesus bore our sins on the cross"...
If you ask many for details as to what that exactly means, and they'll stumble, or string together another set of religious words said. People say such phrases without thinking twice about what it is they're actually saying.
Nessa's question, with some unpacking, I believe such an would more naturally make the answers obvious.

Re: Bore our sins in his body
No sarcasm was intended. Consider the consequences of the very first sin, that of Adam ans Eve. The immediate consequence was a change in God’s attitude towards them. That’s still a consequence today. Jesus’ relationship with God also changed when he bore all sin on the cross. Adam and Eve faced death as a result of their sin and Jesus faced death as a result of imputed sin. Sin results in physical death (first) according to the Bible so in a real sense, bearing sin in your body results in death. You’re toast. You can’t bear sin anywhere else unless you follow some wacko mystical religion...Holy iCloudism would be an interesting concept. No need for a savior. Just press DELETE and all your sins are gone!

2 Corinthians 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Made to be sin on our behalf, then, which part inside or out, is not sin?
