Would discovery of intelligent alien life show the Bible to be false?

The universe is a vast place. So, why would God create such vastness and only put intelligent life on our tiny, blue planet? Conventional wisdom has it that if alien lifeforms were ever discovered somewhere in the universe - and especially intelligent extraterrestrial beings - that this would prove the Bible is false and that God does not exist. But this is simply not true, as it assumes several things. Of course, the question of life elsewhere is currently one of great speculation and is currently without proof. However, IF this ever turned out to be true, there are several possibilities, from a Christian perspective, as to how God might deal with intelligent, alien creatures. Of course, this is one huge IF, as presently we have no evidence of any alien life on other planets (or even of very simple lifeforms). And, of course, the Bible is silent upon this topic. But, as one ponders whether or not God MIGHT have placed intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, there are some interesting possibilities and speculations about the subject - see here as Hugh Ross' Reasons.org notes the various possibilities and theological questions concerning possible intelligent alien life: https://reasons.org/explore/blogs/impac ... ristianity

There are no aliens from other planets; it's just the same bunch of fallen angels, their offspring and demons shedding their old names and taking on new names to deceive mankind in the end times.

Only when the blood runs and the shackles restrain, will the sheep then awake. When all is lost.

Stu, as to what Reasons.org is referencing as aliens: 1) They don't believe there is any evidence to suggest actual extra-terrestrials / aliens exist. 2) They DO believe a certain percentage of experiences people have had concerning supposed aliens ARE demonic in origin - particularly some of the abductee experiences and other dark experiences. And often such people have been involved in the occult in some way. The other points of the linked article is that ALL intelligent creatures (IF others exist) would also have to be beings created by God, and like us, would also need to be saved. Unbelievers who believe that life required no Creator, often believe that life is likely inevitable wherever the right conditions are found for life - and so, they look at the vast universe and conclude surely we're not the only lifeforms in it.

Personally, I do not believe other intelligent creatures exist elsewhere in the universe. One reason is, God has not informed us of their existence - which would be strange (IF they exist) - because of the magnitude of impact upon us if this were to happen. But we do know from Scripture that the demonic can masquerade in many clever, deceptive ways. So, I think God would prepare us if such a discovery were in our future. Scripture also tells us there are many things and mysteries we do not know about - which means, God doesn't tell us everything. And many things, He has only revealed at the point in history He deemed appropriate and per His plans for humanity. The other possibility, if actual aliens exist, is that the vast distances in the universe might well mean that we would never even detect them - much less ever communicate with them - and so God would have no urgent reason to reveal them to us.

The wider point I'm making is that if "aliens" did arrive and told us that they are our creators, how many Christians would fall for that trap.

There is a high level Roman Catholic (it's in the video that I posted - I can't remember his name) says that in the future when aliens arrive we will have to reinterpret the Bible. How many Christians will be led astray by such words.

And it will all seem so real, they will have video and "evidence" to prove it. Many will fall for the ancient aliens bullcrap that is so widely spread these days. Will it fool even the elect?

On the contrary, it would enhance the idea of a creator.

Also we have found "aliens" in a sense, a few animals are arguably truly intelligent such as chimps, dolphins and elephants.

Not to mention angels and stuff.

Then again God didn't mention Australiopithecus, the early humans, or other planets.

Absolutely - there are many mysteries that God has not revealed to us. One reason, I suppose, is that God is more concerned about key things He sees as important that we know that things He knows we are merely curious about. For those who will come to faith, we'll have eternity to understand many present mysteries.
