If there is one topic that Christians all over are obsessed with, it has to do with the Bible's prophesies related to the Endtimes of the world, or rather, Eschatology - which is the study of theology related to death, judgment, and the final destiny of the souls of all humankind. And guess what, there are both agreement and widespread disagreement from various Christian schools of thought as to the role the modern state of Israel and the Church will play in the end of the present age. There have been more books, articles and debates about this subject than almost all others in the history of Christendom. Some would say their proposed view is clearly correct. But there are many problems with EVERY view - why? Because there are things we simply can't pin down with certainty at that present. So, while the prophesies are certainly from God's prophets and most definitely true, the question is, HOW are they true? How will God sort out the Endtimes for humanity?
The Bible's prophesies miraculously proclaimed that Israel's Jews would be dispersed (AGAIN!) from it's historic land that and it's 2nd Temple (rebuilt after the Jews return from Babylonian captivity, the temple of Jesus' day) would also be destroyed - just as Jesus prophesied and that came true after the Romans attacked Jerusalem in 70 A.D. But, stunningly, prophesies also asserted that Israel would become resurrected as a nation, once AGAIN! This would have seemed a ridiculous prophesy to believe, as the Jews had been dispersed across the world in the later first century. Their capital of Jerusalem and temple lay in ruins. Hebrew was almost a forgotten language. And yet, after experiencing the holocaust of the Nazis, and after WWII's end, there again came a clamor for a united homeland for the displaced Jews - with Jews around the world clamoring for a new and protected homeland - and thus Israel's ancient land became a magnet for them. And so, incredibly, at the stroke of midnight, on May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the modern State of Israel. And President Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day - an absolutely stunning fulfillment of prophesy!
