Yup! the Bible is chalk full of 'cool' stuff Revelation of the scripture is what keeps people interested, somewhere in the Bible it talks of mans knowledge increases in the last days, it's interesting that the more people try to explain away His existence the more they end up proving He does in fact exist!

Here is somthing I find very fascinating when I was in school we were taught Columbus sailed in 1492 and at that time believed the world was flat and they may fall off the edge of the ocean. 1500 years before this
happened Isaiah 40:22 wrote inspired by God earth is round.

The ancients knew the planets as wandering stars. Actually the term planet comes from a word for wanderer. They changed their positions in relation to the other stars which stayed fix.

The understanding that they were separate worlds such as the earth is a modern one.

The stars were seen as fixed eternal points on the celestial sphere. The seven planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, and the Sun changed their positions relative to the eternal celestial sphere.

I believe the original word used in 2 Kings 23:5 was mazzalah
or mazzaloth which is then transtated to the planets. In other translations it is more correctly translated into the zodiac.

There are more interesting elements to this term if one wishes to research it in more detail. Those more familiar with the Hebrew bible may correct me.

It is also interesting to note that the ancient Greeks knew the Earth was spherical. The Sumerians may have known as well.
