The bible is not a work of literature and cannot be interpreted on that basis. Any conclusion you might reach from that path is questionable. Homosexuality is just another sin, to attach a qualitative basis to it is is simply opinion.Cougar wrote:Because I am honestly curious, where does it explicitly say in the Bible that is is a sin to be homosexual? The reason I say explicitly is because the Bible is a work of literature and therefore open to interpretation, no matter who you are. However, there are explicit statements (the 10 Commandments, for instance) that say precisely "Thou shalt not kill, thou shall honor thy mother and father," etc. I think that is pretty obvious and there isn't a lot of lee-way when it comes to interpretation. However, I am curious if the Bible is as explicit with the subject of homosexuality, and if not, where is it referred to within the text?
Because I am not familiar with this topic in the Bible, I happen to think that homosexuality is a kind-of wishy-washy subject when it comes to sin. No one argues that killing someone or stealing is a sin... as I said before, I think that is blatantly obvious based on the text. But again, if anyone could enlighten me to where it explicitly says homosexuality is a sin, I would be interested to see this.
Homosexuality is a sin!

Well, God did attach a qualitive basis to it. He called it an "abomination"j316 wrote:Homosexuality is just another sin, to attach a qualitative basis to it is is simply opinion.
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

I'm surprised to see that this conversation went on as long as it did, but I am happy to see that Kurieuo proved the Word of God using 1 Corinthians 5 and Jac3510 with I Corithians 6:9.
Jude 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: 18 how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. 19 These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.
Maintain Your Life with God
20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction;[d] 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire,[e] hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Maybe I'm not so surprised after all.
The last days are going to get darker and harder for the church to stand. I believe that Satan will use homosexuality on all fronts in the last days.... and I believe the church needs to know how to make a distinction concerning this.

In the day's of Lot, before God destroyed Sodom He sent His Angeles to cal Lot out.The last days are going to get darker and harder for the church to stand. I believe that Satan will use homosexuality on all fronts in the last days....
These last day's there seems to be no place of refuge that God's people can run too before God destroys the cities of iniquity. Gives me great hope that the church will be called home before God judges the wicked. Can't say they weren't warned though.

hey, lets talk about homos
Hey everyone I'd just like to say that I am astounded by the persistance of those who are questioning the validity of homosexual behaviour being sinful, and even more astounded at the patience of you gus like Judah....Judah and friends...wel you know who u r lol. Anyway i love this site i recently stumbled upon it when i was google searching something at school. i guess someone else had typed in the words "god does not exist" and the page atheist have proven that god does not exist, right? page came up....augh its so stinkin awesome and i've loved learning so many new things as well as getting reafermed on so many other things especially the science aspect because it's just so darn interesting....Anyway im rambling and i havent really said n e thing for the apporpriate thread sooo....
here's my two cents: While my word is not law, as a follower of christ i believe i represent him so... yes homosexuality, the act of and tendancies are sinful. and like n e other sin, they require forgivness and repentance. I have many gay friends(they seem to know bout the ladies lol)[please ecxuse the stereotype] and i love them like i love n e of my other friends. knowing they are sinning kills me and thats why i speak out..i think that why everyone here is speaking out because while the bible teaches us to not judge, it does teach that out of the love that we have for eachother we should want to warn one another of the sin.
blah blah blah im ramblin anyway i look forward to future convos thanks again you guys!

Galations 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
