The APA: Liberal?

Post by Forge »

I've been discussing the American Psychological Association on different board, regarding homosexuality. I made mention that I've heard from some people that the APA is considered liberal. When I mentioned that, the person I was talking to said that the APA is merely an organization that bases it conclusions on facts.

Is it true? Not true? Partially true?

I work closely with the APA in my current Master's Program.

Psychology is a soft science and it is very much affected in its conclusions by the presuppositions that a person brings to the field.

My experience is that, like a great deal of academia, it tends to be more liberal relative to the general population.
Dogmatism is the comfortable intellectual framework of self-righteousness. Self-righteousness is more decadent than the worst sexual sin. ~ Dan Allender

See-this is an example of BGood and I agreeing on something...
"My actions prove that God takes care of idiots."

He occasionally stumbled over the truth, but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if nothing had happened.

-Winston Churchill

An atheist can't find God for the same reason a criminal can't find a police officer.

You need to start asking out girls so that you can get used to the rejections.
