Please pray for my father

Post by Gman »

Hi all,

I've got a bit of a problem here. I feel that my Dad is slowly slipping away... He has a rare blood disorder called MDS.

More about it here:
http://www.umassmed.edu/hema_oncology/MDSinfo/

He has been fighting this disease for about 6 years now, but I finally think it is getting the best of him. He has been losing about two pints of blood every week now for the past two weeks and the doctors can't explain why. Perhaps it is internal bleeding or something else. We just don't know.... The life expectancy of someone with MDS is only from 6 months to 5 years. We feel that there is not much to do now except pray.

Thank you very much for any prayers for him,

Your Father is in our Prayers. Do you mind me asking how old your Father is. Does he know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour?

Gman,

I'm sorry your father's going through this. I pray that God will ease his pain and will give you and your family the fortitude to deal with the challenges that lie ahead.

In Christ,

Byblos.
Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Gman,

You've got my prayers. I went through something similar when my Dad died of cancer on Christmas Day in 2004. He was diagnosed in 1999 and given 6 months to 2 years at that time. He obviously beat the odds and God graciously allowed him additional time most of which was good time, (all but the final 3 months.)

Let me know if there's any practical way I can be of help.

I'm praying, Gman., for you and your father and your whole family. God's will will be done but He is also a God than can do the impossible.

May God give you and yours abundant peace at this time as you rely on Him.

God bless

You are in our prayers, both for his health and your peace.

Wow, thank you all very much... I really appreciate all your prayers.

Bart, you seem to have had a really tough time too (as I've seen in your other posts as well). And I thought I had it hard... As well as the rest of you..

Thanks Bizzt. He is 71. I do believe he knows Jesus. I had the fortune of being raised in a Christian background... He isn't as strong in his Christian beliefs as when he was younger (maybe that comes with age..), but I'm hoping this doesn't reflect on his salvation.. Maybe a prayer for that too..

Anyways, take care everyone. I'll keep you posted on the progress...

G-man,

I hope I don't come across as trying to "win" the contest for tough circumstances.

It's hard sometimes in the context of a bulletin board to see people as more than letters on a screen. I try to open up a little bit to make things human and hopefully encourage people to appropriately open up as well so that we realize there are people with real situations and real stories.

I share where there are similiarities to try and make the input and prayer more personal and "real." That's not everybodies style and there is risk.

All that said, to simply say, I understand some of what you might be feeling but certainly not all of it. Your situation touches me, I appreciate you and I certainly will be praying for you and your father.

Thanks Bart,

Yes, it's hard to convey feelings in this format... And I didn't think for one second that you were stealing "the show" here... Everyone lives through some type of drama in their lives and this is a nice place to express that and lift it up to God..

It's also hard to see where his problem is leading to as well. He stays so positive that it makes it difficult to see how serious the problem really is.. I'm trying to stay positive too..

Like I said before, he has been battling this issue now for so many years that I'm trying to say to myself that it is business as usual.. But now I'm not too sure. Perhaps (I'm hoping) he may snap out of it...

I would like to say though, I spoke to him today and he was in VERY high spirits (although he had another two pints of blood the day before). It seems that all your prayers are working and I thank you all again for that... :)

Glad to hear your father getting better. God is almighty He certainly takes care of your father even before our prayers reach His throne.

May His divine hands heal him and be His will revealed upon his encounter with the disease.

In Christ.

Help!!!

Sorry to keep nagging everyone, but could you please pray for my father again? He was doing better there for awhile but now he is needing a blood transfusion every other day now... He is literally bleeding to death internally.. Doctors don't know where the blood is leaking in his body.

Thank you all very much,

I'm praying, Gman. And asking for prayer as often as it is needed is not nagging.

Never worry when asking for prayers. That's what we're here for as a community of believers in Christ. Prayers going up and will continue as often as I can.

Hi guys,

I've been away from the forum for some time now due to my fathers illness. If you could please pray for my father again. He has been extremely ill with his blood disease. Now is has contracted an infection that appears to be incurable by the doctors. They simply don't know what it is which makes things very frustrating for me.. Any prayers would be very helpful.

Thank you all,

God bless.
