Judgement
Hmm, I don't know, maybe we should ask the direct dicisples of Christ and say "is believing like that really, sincerely believing, or is it simply blind following that won't get you into heaven?the thing that worried me was that i believe for the same reasons as Martin, which means the only reason i believe is because i was taught to. Is believing like that really, sincerely believing, or is it simply blind following that won't get me into heaven?

Maybe not so much as disbelieving as believing the wrong thing. Jesus called the religious leaders and teachers blind and yet they believed in the law...even though they followed it hypocritically.Aviatrix wrote:Am I the only person who thinks that the "blind believer" is the atheist? Seriously... being blind is disbelieving.
Thank God for Jesus who is the light of the world and opens the eyes of those who in faith put their trust in Him alone. How's that for a plug?Aviatrix wrote:Acknowledging God is anything but following blindly... that's what happens when you open your eyes!

Not to be a smartaleck or anything, but Jesus peace be upon him isn't "the light of the world." In fact, he said "you are the light of the world."
I truly believe that anyone who really believes in God would be scared of Hell, and scared of Judgment, and wouldn't be a hypocrite who does his actions for himself and not for God. Really. Hypocrisy is then a form of disbelief. As is atheism.

Aviatrix,
You aren't being a smartaleck, as much as you are acting on ignorance, being uniformed.
John 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Matt. 5:14 You are the light of the world.
Jesus' followers are the "body of Christ" on earth, so as Christ is the Head and His church (people, called out ones) are the body, both Christ and His followers are the light of the world. This is in full harmony with the old Testament as it portreys Israel, God's chosen nation as a light to the nations. This is because they carry God's oracles and message to the nations. This is also because God has chosen to "work with" his creatures for His purposes, and sense God is light, and in Him is no darkness, when He works through people, they can be said to be the light of the world too, because they are they gateway in a sense to God, being God's messengers.

Actually, I was right and wrong at the same time, but more right than wrong I think.
1) Jesus peace be upon him says to the people "you are the light of the world."
and
2) Jesus peace be upon him says "While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
This makes sense to me, actually. Is Jesus still in the world?
First of all, yes, the Children of Israel were supposed to be a light to the world, an example for all nations.
And then Jesus peace be upon him as a light, okay I can buy that, but he says while he is in the world.
So is he still in the world?
Your post I understood as such:
Jesus's followers are Jesus. But Jesus is God. So Jesus's followers are God.
So I ask, is Jesus peace be upon him still "in the world." If he is, when will he not be? Because he said "while I am in the world" indicating that at some point he wouldn't be, which I take to mean after his ascension.

Jesus said he was:Avi wrote:This makes sense to me, actually. Is Jesus still in the world?
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
and
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Here we have Jesus' promise of His presence to believers as well as some scriptural evidence for the trinity. The holy Spirit = The comforter. Jesus = The comforter.
