I had to drive myself to the Emergency room at 3:00 in the morning last week. I ended up staying for a day and a half much to my dismay. Apparently my heart went into atrial Fibrillation. They had to shock it back into a regular rhythm again. I'm on anti Arrhythmic medication right now but I'm fine.
I'm just asking for prayer that God guides all involved in this situation. I've had episodes like this for probably 10 years. This time I figured I had better go and get it checked out. now comes the fun part of dealing with specialists and finding out what is causing it.
Thanks for your prayers!

Thanks, guys. Prayer for wisdom when it comes to treatment options would be great. Right now I'm looking at an Ablation procedure to fix the electrical system in my heart as opposed to a lifetime of taking pills. It fairly new but it will cure the condition rather than just treat the symptoms. Apparently it's an outpatient procedure with an 80 to 90 % success rate.puritan lad wrote:You are in our prayers John. Let us know if we can do anything.

That sounds like the way to go. Of course I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on tv.FFC wrote:Thanks, guys. Prayer for wisdom when it comes to treatment options would be great. I have had about 6 or 7 instances of atrial fib in the last 20 years. I've chosen to stay on medication because it works for me.
It's not a fun feeling when it kicks in with rapid irregular beats, but thankfully, it is treatable and not life threatening (unless it is left unconverted for a long period of time.)
Mine is related to the fact that I am kept at a high level of thyroid hormone which places some strain on the heart. Maybe that's why they haven't looked at ablation. I know ablation is a common and fairly safe alternative however.
Hang in there. Better the atriums than the ventricals!
Blessings,
Bart
