How are our souls made? What makes a soul? Do animals have souls?

Good question. I'm trying to figure this out myself.

I know some say that our soul and our body are one and the same. I think there may be some truth in that but much more. I would say that our souls are made when God breathes His breath of life (His spirit that animates us) into us at our conception making us a living soul.

I was taught that the soul is the part of us to cares or has interest in our earthy state...and our spirit is the part of us that tries to connect to God.

Anybody else? I'm in over my head here :lol:

FFC, I to am in over my head moreso that you Im sure. I just liked the
topic and thought I would post my thoughts on this, mind you, I have
no training on this. I thought everyone is born with a soul, if you do not connect with Christ while on earth that soul goes to hell. The Holy Spirit
or comforter is the liason between your soul and christ.
If i amoff base correct me. This may be the same thing you said now that

I like number 1 and 3...although with 3 it begs to question where does the spirit of man come in? Or are they one in the same?

The way i look at it is that since we are created in God's Image we are also a trinity of "persons". We have our our bodies, which is our physical form. We have our Souls which is who we are, our ego and consciousness etc. And finally we have our spirit which is the breath of live that connects us with God.

That is just my take on it. As for whether animals have souls - i believe they do, but no spirit.

I go along with silvertusk. Genesis talks about animals having souls somewhere, and the NT makes a distinction between soul and spirit. I think the soul is all about emotions and will, while the spirit is that bit which becomes alive through the action of the Holy Spirit. I'll look up those references though...

ecc 3:19-21 speaks of the animals.

I like 3 the best. I had said earlier I thought the Spirit was liason to the soul. I certainly dont know if that is correct but after reading #3 it made
me think of something else. What if the spirit or comforter helps you
and or your soul while you are in the physical body and becomes your
spiritual body when the physical body dies.

This is how I understand it.... A man of body and soul is called in the Bible the natural man, the man of the flesh, the carnal man. The soul is also called the "spirit of man" for the soul is physical life and is frequently referred to as "spirit" in its generic usage.

All life is spirit, but not all life is eternal-life spirit. Soul life is spirit but not eternal; but the spirit from God in a man is eternal-life spirit. Soul life is the spirit of man which is passed on at the time of ovum fertilization, which event begins the life of a new organism, the end result being an offspring. Soul is attested to by breathing. When breathing ceases, soul life is no more but the spirit lives on...

All living animals have a soul. In Genesis 1 :20 and 30, "life" is the word for "soul." I believe in Genesis 1 :21 and 24, "creature" is also the word "soul." But animals do not have eternal life or spirit as man does...

Access to Extra-dimension ?

Everytime I surf more on here I find interesting threads to cut it. I can't help saying something

I think soul is non-physical and it has something with dimension. The link below is intriguing:

If there are only 4 dimensions in this world visible and provable by us, there could be other dimensions beyond these 4. Soul is the only channel that our physical beings linked to these other dimensions.

In bible, there were dream interpretators, e.g Joseph did for Pharoah, and what were interpreted were about the future... People like you and me now a day dream, and it is quite usual (at least my friends share with me the same experience some times), we stopped and exclaimed about some scenes we saw, that we had seen in dreams before.

I am inclined to think that our soul might hit an extra-dimension so that we could see the future in dream.

In other words, the soul could be an "eye" to enable us to see this extra-dimension that we see the future..
