An indian chief decided it was time to start a family. He married one young girl, and that night he lay with her on a wolf skin. he was a cautious man , however, and decided better to be safe than sorry, and so took another young wife the next day. That night he lay with his second wife on a bear skin.
Still cautious, the next day he took a third wife. That night he lay with her on a hippopotamus skin.
Nature took it's course, and nine months later his first wife produced a handsome son. The next night, his second wife produced a beautiful daughter, and on the third night, to the chiefs delight, his third wife produced twins, a son and a daughter, thus proving that the squaw on the hippopotamus equals the sum of the squaws on the other two hides .
