Ok, this is rather embarassing, so I'm just gonna cut to the chase and get it out there.
I'm a teenaged male, and whenever I get bored (which is usually every night, and sometimes in the afternoon even), I masturbate. I don't want to do it, but I've just gotten used to doing it lately.
This is a confession of a habitual sin, obviously, but I just wanted to request that everyone pray for God to untangle me - so to speak - from this sin. Thank you.

Re: Habitual sin
I hear you, Vash. I'm praying for you. I'm going through the same struggle and I'm 48 years old. God is really helping with it rigbt now. It is still extremely difficult, and the flesh has a strong hold, but God is stronger and He will help you as you draw close to Him.Vash wrote:Ok, this is rather embarassing, so I'm just gonna cut to the chase and get it out there.

I'm reading a book right now called "Sex is not the problem, lust is" by Josh Harris. Check it out. It's not too preachy or legalistic, he just uses scripture and a knowlege of human sexual desire to help us see why we do what we do regarding sexual impurity and how we can have victory over it.

Could someone point out in the Scriptures where it says that masturbation is a sin?

Re: Habitual sin
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but it's not necessarily the masturbation, but the lust (ie, pornography)

Re: Habitual sin
Ultimately, I think the question becomes the fantasies that come along with the masturbation....Considering that we are visual creatures, it is extremely hard to engage in sexaul activity without visualizing the opposite sex. Considering that most of these fantasies involve the opposite gender in an objectified manner (or perhaps more accurately, more likely to involve the opposite gender as objects), I would say that the sin comes in the thought process, not the action itself. In this light, Christ's address to lusting after women would belong here (and vice versa for women lusting after men)be-ing not do-ing wrote:Could someone point out in the Scriptures where it says that masturbation is a sin?
Also, given the huge propensity currently for internet lust, it is very easy to start harmlessly enough and then find that one needs to view the stuff out there to fuel the fantasy.
I would say that women also struggle with this, certainly if not physically, then emotionally. We can objectify men with respect to romance, skewing our expectations just as men can skew their expectations of women physically.
This is an amazing article addressing the topic

This article nails the heart of the concern....Satan will often drive us mad tormenting us with feelings of inadequcey with regard to this sin. We must never allow this to keep us from God. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive". oFten our guilt keeps us from Christ and this perpetuates the cycle.
