Why were our lifespans reduced?

Discussion about scientific issues as they relate to God and Christianity including archaeology, origins of life, the universe, intelligent design, evolution, etc.

Greetings to you all.

This post is on the life-span aspect of this thread. (I am pointing this out because you seem to have veered from this topic.)

Although this issue is not directly addressed in the Bible, there is a scientific reason, and the Bible does loosely address it. At creation there were two factors available that are no longer. 1)Genetic code. 2)Earth's conditions.

Genetic code:
At creation Man was created perfect, although mortal, and lived a long life, as a result. When Man sinned things changed, for Man, and we started to live shorter lives, because we were no longer perfect.

As a result of Sin, the DNA code of Man started to unravel, and has continued, ever since, to unravel. Each generation there is less genetic code to instill in a conception. Thus you have birth defects, inbreeding, and other strange phenomenon. Thus life-spans are shortened.

Another Sub-co-contributor is nourishment. Such is a certain vitamin that almost every American is deficient in, B17. The cultures that are not deficient in B17 often live to 140 years. Many people in America fear this vitamin because an overdose can be fatal, and an alternate name for B17 is fabled as a deadly poison (Cyanide).

Earth's conditions:
At creation there was a water canopy that covered and protected Earth. This caused higher air pressure and oxygen content. Everything was bigger and heathier, and everything lived longer. (Sort of like a hyperbolic chamber.)

When God caused the Flood things changed, for the whole Earth, the canopy was destroyed causing chaos to the Earth's atmosphere. As a result, everything started dying earlier.

And Biblical evidence for the extra pressure and oxygen are found after Noah lands. Genesis 9: 21 He drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent. Noah, the only righteous man God could find, gets wasted on wine and gets neked! Now, you ask how good a man can this man be? It was an honest mistake. He didn't understand the results of less atmospheric pressure....either more alcohol formed, so he had more alcohol than he though, or the wine went to his head faster because of the new atmosphere (I can't remember which)(I don't make wine).

Yeah back on topic *waves flag*

I believe the part of us that was perfect was the soul spirit whitch is made in the image of god, it became corrupted  because we are not as wise as our lord.

Ro 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

Just to show what sin did-it didn't just corrupt man, it corrupted all of creation.

Actually, unless we lived in Canaan, then I'm not sure whether we would prosper in that land if we honour our mother and father. ;)

A correction about the sun and Saturn. The sun flips every 11-12 years or so, not days. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast15feb_1.htm

I'm not saying that the two bodies are alike; just that we have evidence that magnetic fields are not as stable as one might think.
AttentionKMartShoppers wrote:You didn't read the site did you? There's one part where he says that the friction of the plates (plate techtonics) is so great, that if you push against the side of one, the side you're pushing on would crush before the thing moved.
I told you I couldn't read it all. Maybe today I'll have the chance...
AttentionKMartShoppers wrote:And also, the earth's rotational speed is slowing down....but at such a rate that we of course dont' notice it.
I stand corrected. The daily rotation speed is slowing by about 1.4 milliseconds per century. Detailed link about this change and the keeping of time standards found at: http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/leapsec.html

I heard it was faster....the problems is probably what's clocking this. As you know, it's hard to find an absolute standard in nature. This one source said (forgot it, so no link) that, for example, the reason the speed of light is no longer seen as slowing down is because the atomic clock started to clock the speed of light...30 years ago at least....so, obviously....if they decay at the same rate, then C isn't seen as decaying. Anways, eventually I'll be asking for some answers up in heaven. Hey I found it http://www.creationscience.com/onlinebo ... #wp1885198

I really need some physical scientific books...so I can read things OFF LINE for one thing.

Automated response for when a link is given talking about speed of light being constant- :P

So your links are valid scientific information but ours are not?
Acts 17:24-25 (NIV)
"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. [25] And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else."

You read too much into these things, don't hurt yourself.

(2nd part just a joke, 1st part referring to the fact I have no actual books in my room on science....I have to check them out or read them online).

So we can post links that refer to books and that would be ok?

:D Promise I won't hurt myself, but you be careful too.

Lifespans have actually been on the rise for most of recorded history. Osteological and other fossil remains indicate that the average lifespan was much less in the past, not more.
