I came across an old report card from 1938...70 years ago. It appears to have been a college-level school for women, attached to the University of Montreal. I will reproduce it here, without revealing the lady's name or her marks:

Sigh....nothing more than HOusehold science. And who knows what that course really meant. It is sad to see that science was not really a part of education. :esurprised:

My guess is «Household Science» is what girls had to take when I was in High School, only it was called Home Economics. Sweeping, sewing & slop-production were part of Home Ec...

Sweeping? I happened to take home eco when I was in HS...it was either spend a period with a bunch of guys making a bread box and/or a steel weight stand or spend a period with all the girls as the only guy...we never touched on methods of sweeping. We did all kinds of cooking and did touch on the basics of sewing. Slop production? Someone has had some issues with this...

Choosing between spending time with a bunch of guys making a bread box - in Woodworking Class - and spending time with a bunch of girls looking at the only guy in their BORING class...hmmm...to any adult man, the choice is obvious. To have made that choice in your teens speaks volumes of you. You are obviously an intelligent man!

Hmm, I actually liked industrial arts class. My favorite was woodworking. Turned into liking woodcarving
