Is there a spiritual explanation for this?

That's an interesting article, and I really enjoy reading about brain research. Directly related to this is the experiences of some people who go through extreme stress, the experience of going out of their bodies and looking at them from above. When I worked with domestic violence victims, I was taught about this in training. I did meet someone who this happened to. She had questions about if it was normal. As far as whether or not people's spiritual experiences are all just malfunctioning brains cells and such, I don't think so. I think God can use our physiology to get to us, whether it's though our eyes or through our brain cells. From some things I've read, other spirit beings can do it too.
