It probably only took the wise men a couple months or so to travel from Persia to Judea to find the Christ Child.
The word that is translated "star" from the Gospels was also a term used to astrologers to denote a significent celestial event , thus given further credence to theory it was a conjuction of planets.

Herod had male children 2 and under killed because he was a paranoid nut (he also killed 2 of his wives and children). I don't know about 2 years, more likely somewhere between 3 and 6 months. I will look up the approximate distance from Persia to Jerusalem and post some estimates.

I think it appeared at His birth and it took the wise men two years to get there.

i found some very interesting things about the star of bethlehem
and science is very much on the way to prove the bible to have
all the science hidden within.they are pointing towards the universe
being a thorus,this thorus is based on the star of bethlehem. even the
labyrinth as shown in some churches turn out to be based on and hiding
the very same structure. it is a joining of the 6 and 5 pointed star that
creates the golden ratio which in turn creates the shape of the eight
the sign of eternity. the math is perfect in line with all the known cycles
when it spins it makes the thorus that scientists are looking at to explain
the micro and macro world.

Welcome to the forum moshiya. I'm not sure if I understand what you are saying. Could you please elaborate more? I'm pretty convinced that the 12 constellations spell out the gospel written in the heavens, but I'm not sure about this labyrinth.
