Re: The Ark of the Covenant
The Arc of the Covenant is the holding of the two stone tablets the Ten Commandments were written on by God for Moses to proclaim to sinners.Mastermind wrote:What exactly is it?

It was "hidden" away somewhere as instructed by God, but to this day we cannot find it for 1 of the 2 following reasons:Mastermind wrote:How was it lost?
1.) It did not exist
2.) It was destroyed by God
The Arc of the Covenant was before Jesus and going to it cleansed the sinner, but because we had Jesus pay the price for our sins, the "blanket" between God and humanity was opened so everyone could repent without having to go to the Arc of the Covenant.

The Ark of the Covenant was placed inside the Temple of God. This was called the Holy of Holies. I believe this is where the High Priest did their sacrifices. Inside the Ark of Covenant was the mercy seat of God. When the priest offered their sacrifices; it was said to believe that they would tie a rope and bell around their leg. The rope would extend to the outside of the Holy of Holies. If you didn't hear the bell, then the priest no longer was alive and would have to be pulled out. No one could enter the Holy of Holies. This was the actual presence of God.
Being that Christ is our High Preist, we no longer need a blood sacrifice because he became our sacrifice. The body is a holy temple. Your heart becomes the mercy seat of God.

Poetic Sould has the correct answer, but I would like to add on to that last paragraph.
Mat 27:51 And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake; and the rocks were rent;
The veil that seperated the ark from the rest of the world was ripped after Jesus died, signifying that the Holy Spirit was now available to everyone.

Acts 17:24-25 (NIV)
"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. [25] And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else."

It's stored down in Hollywood in case they need it for another movie....if the thing remains, though, obviously the presence of God has left (I saw this one guy on the history channel searching for it....didn't watch the show...just the commercial....).
"My actions prove that God takes care of idiots."
He occasionally stumbled over the truth, but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if nothing had happened.

An atheist can't find God for the same reason a criminal can't find a police officer.
You need to start asking out girls so that you can get used to the rejections.
