A Plea for a small miracle.

Hi guys.

I was wondering if I could possibly ask for your prayers for my wife and I. We have been trying to have a baby for two years and still no such luck at the moment. I don't know the average time it takes, when people are trying to get pregnant, but two years seem like a long time. We haven't considered fertility treatment yet, because we are not really sure where we stand with that with regards to our faith. We know that God has a plan and has his timing, but it is getting a little frustrating for us because we so want a child of our own. Although we are overjoyed for them, all our friends seems to be having babies left right and centre. It has been a subject of tears for both of us and I feel we now need prayers, not necessarily to be able to have a baby, but maybe for understanding of Gods Timing and plan for us in this matter.

It took my wife and I just about 2 years to get pregnant with our first son so 2 years is not all that unusual. I recently read an article on how food can greatly impact chances of getting pregnant (dairy and lean proteins being good, trans-fats being bad). Other than that, are you practicing natural pregnancy methods (ovulation timing, checking basal temperature, etc.)? No need to reply here, I know this could be an uncomfortable subject for some so I would suggest you discuss it with your wife's Ob-Gyn.

One of the teachers in my school had to wait over two years as well, and his wife also had two miscarriages. THird time....bouncing baby girl. They also weren't sure if fertility treatment was the way for them, also she and he did get tested to make sure everything was happening correctly.

Take heart.....waiting is so hard!!

Well just to give you an update.

It is coming up three years trying and still nothing. We are now starting down the medical route. Our worry is that this may be a betrayal of a trust in God.

Any thoughts on this?

I always think of this story when this issue gets brought up:

I sometimes wonder what colour socks God wants me to wear. I wish I could wait for Him to make a decision for me, but I think I would end up late to work every day (if I arrive at all) so just grab whatever. We have been given a brain, body, freedom and responsibility and everything in my life until this point suggests to me God expects us to do the best we can. If there is nothing morally wrong with a particular course of action, then there is nothing wrong. If we make a mistake, then we can learn and grow from them. I see it as more deplorable to just expect God to do everything without doing anything ourselves.

That said, I wish you both the best and pray you too will be blessed with a little one as I have been!

Miracles sometimes need a little nudge in the right direction. I agree with Kurieuo. Whatever it takes (and is ethically bound) I'm all for it.

Abraham and Sarah had to wait much longer and it had nothing to do with their faith. EWven when Sarah laughed and doubted, God still allowed her pregnancy.

You have to watch out for that kind of thinking. (JOb's friends often brought up this sort of quid pro quo argument for blessings). WHile it is true that sin brings consequences, and lack of faith certainly is sinful, God's blessings are also up to HIm. Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed, and his answer was that GOd's grace is sufficient for HIm, not "stop sinning, jusst have more faith".

No I don't think this is a betrayal in trust in God. Thank God for those who use the gifts God gives them along with the learning about the body God created to accomplish good things. Whether God works miraculously or by other means, it is still God working and I pray there is success and God gives you the desire of your heart.

Hello all.

Well it certainly has been a journey. It had been three and half years and still no baby. My wife went for her tests and discovered that she had endemitiotris (sp) and she had to have a laporoskpy. They said it was just going to be 15 minute operation. She was under for an hour and half. That was the longest hour of my life. Apparently there was more things wrong than originally thought and she took nearly a month to recover fully. But she was fine and given a clear bill of health. We were put on the IVF waiting list and to wait to see what happened. Also to keep trying naturally.

Well May 13th 2009 (yesterday) my wife took a pregancy test because she had certain symptoms. I can still see the look in her face as she came into the room shaking showing me the indicator on the testing device. "Pregnant"

We could not believe it. We sat there and praised God and prayed. In fact I have not stopped praising God. He is a wonderful, incredible God and his grace and love knows no limit. We realise that this is a miracle that God has given us and we are truely in awe and humbled by it all. I thank you all for your prayers and kind words previously and humbly ask you to pray once more for my wife as I know the first 12 weeks are the times when things can go wrong.
