Red Eye/Fox News
I was just watching the Friday night/Saturday morning Red Eye program on Fox news. The Catholic Priest, Father Jonathon, who was on the program this evening didn't seem to be able to answer the question of where Cain and Able found wives. I would have to think he was aware that the bible notes that Adam and Eve had other children, some of whom were female. I'm not sure if the bible actually says they married their sisters but I am informed that this is the case thru others here on the God and Science site. He avoided the answer to the question. Disappointing.

Perhaps I was wrong in the above quote. I don't remember exactly if the question was where Cain and ABLE found wives, perhaps it was just asking about Cain's wife. Here is the link to the answer I found on line. Is this in accordance with generally accepted Christian beliefs?WConn wrote:I was just watching the Friday night/Saturday morning Red Eye program on Fox news. Yes that is.. For the record, there are two possible explanations for it.WConn wrote:Perhaps I was wrong in the above quote. 1. Though the book of Genesis condemns sexual relations between children and their parents, it nowhere prohibits a man from marrying his sister or niece. Abraham, for example, married his half-sister without compunction. Not until the time of Moses were laws established forbidding a man from marrying a sister or niece. The timing of this command makes perfect sense biologically, for genetic defects as a result of intra-family marriage would not begin to crop up until after the first few dozen generations.

2. In Genesis 1:27 it clearly says that God created man not "a man." This is certainly referring to mankind. If Genesis 1:27 said "a man and a woman" (singular) then we would have a different story referring to Adam and Eve. If so, it is possible that Adam and Eve were not the only ones on earth. They were the only ones in the Garden of Eden.

But if only Adam & Eve were in the Garden, then how could the others who were not in the Garden be implicated in Adam & Eve's fall? It would seem more likely that A&E would be evicted and "John & Jane" given the opportunity.

Well, according to scripture Adam and Eve's sin was transferred to all men Romans 5:12, so that would mean basically anywhere.. If they were in or not in the garden...waynepii wrote:Interesting point.
