Something happened to me today. I have taken some of your advice and have been reading the NT. A few weeks ago I read Mathew and Mark, today I finished Luke. I was on facebook earlier and came across a memorial page for a girl who had been raped and killed by her step brother. As I read the comments of the family, I began to weep and said that I hoped the Lord is really there, and that he is taking care of her now.
This has never happened before. I usually read these with little to no thought and feel little to no compassion. What is happening to me? Is my mind playing tricks on me lately, or is it possible that he is really trying to come into my life?

If they had a social gospel in the days of the prodigal son, somebody would have given him a bed and a sandwich and he never would have gone home.

Bring those doubts here then as well as keep praying. We might be able to provide some answers.

I'm curious.. is the doubt, worry, and total disconnect from life a result of the sins I am committing all the time? Do you think all of my terrible immoral actions may be causing a disconnect from God?

Actually - to be honest - it is when I start to get doubts that I start to sin - not the other way round. When a part of me says that it is not really true - then the sins start to creep in again. Thankfully so far my doubts have been stilled. It is a long journey.
