New Dad jitters...

Post by DannyM »

Hey gang,

I found out a little while ago that I'm going to be a dad. I'm afraid the circumstances aren't ideal and the girl and I won't be staying together. I saw the first scan picture last month and by the end of May (second scan) I'll know the sex! Please would you be so kind to pray for Clare, that she remains healthy and happy during pregnancy and that my baby is safe? If you have room left could you please offer up a little word of prayer for myself in the hope that I can be a good father?

Love & blessings to you all!!

Congratulations to you Danny!!! I'm sure you will make a great Godly father. I wish that I would have had kids, but I guess God has other plans for me now. Prayers are up for you, Clare, and your newborn. y[-o< y@};-

Prayers offered up for all 3 of of you Danny. Even though the circumstances are not ideal, congratulations are in order. It is a most joyous thing to be a parent and, from what I know of you, I have no doubt you will be a great one. If this is your first, I'm sure you'll have a ton of questions so do not hesitate to ask one of us old timers, ok?
Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Thanks G! It's exciting. Frightening! But exciting. I was beginning to think that I might have missed the boat! Was even thinking there might be something, umm, "wrong" with me.

Keep doing God's good work, brother; I know that He has given you the tools!

I'll pray for you, but this is an unfortunate situation. There is no hope of marriage? I don't know your mutual conditions, but as a female who will no doubt have much more responsibility for the child and who will get tired and lonely doing that, I'd imagine the mother will look for someone who will want to be with her. If she finds someone else, she may not have time to deal with you and visitation as much. Just thinking about it - I don't know your situation. A new person being born into the world is wonderful, but having a family unit is best for the child, I think.

I'd like to spend some time explaining myself and the situation, but I think it would be a little inappropriate. Rest assured I'm a conservative Christian who believes in the sanctity of marriage and the family unit as the bedrock of society. If there was the slightest chance I could change the situation I would. The only thing I can do is give the child my all. The mother is a practicing Christian and I trust she will not have men coming through a revolving door. If she meets somebody and he knows his place then there won't be any problem on that front. I hold out hope that we can avoid some of the more drastic consequences which can potentially arise from a child not having his/her mum and dad together and married. I understand your concern, but believe me I've wrestled with this now for a couple of months. There are some major issues involved here and all I can do apparently is bite my tongue, knuckle down and step up.

Thanks cs ;)

Well, lol, you certainly are mysterious. I didn't mean at all that she'd have a revolving door, btw. I meant someone else she could marry, and maybe she'd even move away; who knows. You can always pm me - I'm a parent as well. If you're on facebook, Nathaniel and I are on there and you could befriend us. Thank you sisters. Cs, I hear ya. But I would not allow the mother to "move away". At least not very far! Thank you for your facebook offers, sisters, and it will be a pleasure to 'facebook ya'' soon. :esmile:

God bless you both.

There is no joy greater than a child, and I pray for the three of you to remain strong for each other. Even apart two parents can be there to remind your dear child that they are loved, and all are loved in the sight of God. We cannot know the future, but I can tell you from my own experience as a father, and those I have had assisting my brother (Who has become separated from his wife) that even despite separation that devotion may still remain undiminished. Even without marriage, once you first set eyes on your child through the sight God has given you, you will find away to put your child in the foremost of your thoughts, equal only to God in your priorities.

Praying for all of you, and that should you and the mother never be in a devoted relationship, that you both remember that a child is still an oath between both of you to love, and to respect. God bless.

Hey gang, well what can I say, I recently went along to the latest scan, saw how it all works, and we are having a baby boy. My heart has been completely melted having seen my boy on the monitor, then looking at the scan. It's in front of me now, I can see his head, his face, belly, arm... I'm blown away, it's knocked me sideways... thank you for all your prayers and thoughts...
