My friend's girlfriend has a problem in that her parents don't want her to go to church (my friend said that they don't want her to get "absorbed" by the church). He said he think's she's annoyed because he went to church when she wanted to visit him to visit her relatives with him. He said she doesn't want to ruin her relationship with her parents by going to church. He asked me about it. I wasn't quite sure what to tell him.
What do you think she should do?
If you're parents don't want you to go to Church?

Church is not a meeting. Church is the body of Christ and is made of people.
Tell your friend's girlfriend to build friendships and relationships with other christians and make that her primary social circle and she might just be more a part of "church" than many who attend meetings.
When her parents relent or she's older if she wants to attend services she'll have the choice. Nothing wrong with attending services. However, she actually has an opportunity in this situation to focus on what church really is and she can do that without disobeying her parents.
My thoughts anyway.

Are they CHristians?
What do they mean by absorbed? Is it a different denomination? Is it a controlling church?

I haven't been to their church, it's a Presbyterian church though if that helps. My friend described her parents as "external Christians" and said that they weren't committed.
And thanks Bart

Sorry, one more question....do they not want her to go to another church or to their church?

I'll have to ask my friend. Though I'm not sure he'll know himself in which he'd have to ask his girlfriend.
