Jehovah and allah similarities and differences...

Post by derrick09 »

Hello, I was wanting to start a general discussion relating to Islam and the Islamic concept that the God of Islam, Judaism and Christianity are all the same. Of course just like most of you all here I don't believe that, and I was wanting to find more things to refute that claim. From what I've looked into thus far a few differences between the God of Islam and Judaism/Christianity is that the god of Islam encourages lying in order to accomplish things. And another difference is that the god of Islam operates on a salvation by works system. Now then, are there any other major differences worth mentioning? If so please share them with me and everyone here. Thanks and God bless.

Christians and Jewish people believe in the same God, that much is clear though Jewish people do not believe that God has sent his messiah yet so they believe we are still in a state of separation from God as far as I know.

Muslims also claim to believe in the same God as Jews and Christians("Allah" is the arabic word for God). However, the Quran assigns some pretty different characteristics to God from the Torah and the Gospels, such as in the Quaran He has little concern about free will and wants people to submit to him by any means necessary (Islam means "submission"). In Christianity and Judaism, God seems to value love through free will a lot more. Also as you pointed out, all three have different ideas about how to obtain salvation.

They all have many similarities too though. You could get into what exactly makes two ideas of God be the same God or a different God but I think all three do in fact believe in the same God, but have very different ideas about His nature. More so Islam than the other two.

Big differences are that Muslims do NOT believe that Jesus was the son of God. They view him merely as a prophet. Second, Allah is a god of mystery to the Muslims. They cannot know him as a god of love which is very much the concept of the Christian God in that God died for mankind John 3:16..
