Bible commentaries..

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of any good bible commentaries that you could recommend? That's a project that I plan on jumping into real soon. Currently I'm listening to a audio bible commentary by Dr. Bob Utley. As far as you all know is he pretty good? Anyway, let me know what you think. Take care.

Hi Derrick,

I use a few different Bibles in my studies. I highly recommend the Companion Bible by E W Bullinger. It has detailed commentaries and a very detailed appendix. I also use the Moffat Bible because Dr. Moffat did some excellent work on Hebrew and Greek idioms and figures of speech.

I like the Holman Christian Standard Study Bible.

I like The Apologetics Study Bible, which includes articles written by Christian scholars on subjects such as: Christ, the Fulfillment of Prophecy; Does the Old Testament Teach Salvation by Works?; How can we know the Bible Includes the Correct Books?, and many others. The Holman Christian Standard Study Bible has articles as well.

I also like John Gill's online commentary as well as Matthew Henry's online commentary.

I wouldn't be without the "Jewish New Testament Commentary" by David H. Stern. Stern is a Messianic Jew and his commentary includes Jewish thought.
