Well, to be honest, it seems you lacked that understanding because what you said implied that lack of understanding of literary genres of the ANE.
So you chose to read it.

Audie, you mentioned the event that happened to you when you were five years old on another thread.

Ask yourself, how did that influence your thinking God cannot intervene?

Isaiah 61:1,2,3
You possibly would be surprised. I dont think either gave the
other a fair chance.

Partly because you may miss what I am actually saying.

Shared experience with sexual assault. I was 22, Story 17.
That is the 5 yrs.

No influence at all on how I perceive the idea of a god.
Not then, not now.

It never occurred to nor does it now to think a god cant intervene should
it care to. Kind of a nonsensical idea.

My q. was to the effect that a non-existent god does nothing
to intervene, an all loving compassionate god does nothing.

How is one to detect a difference?
Pleasantly surprised you responded...

I was off line for a few days painting rooms in the house and hanging new blinds so only now getting back on line to this thread.

Please note Audie, no disrespect to you at all in what I am going to say.

God Almighty, spoke to the perpetrator but he did not listen. If folks listen, then it would have never happened. Human beings are designed to think and reason independently. That is a gift from God he will not renege on. If he did, then he could not be God Almighty. Fact is He speaks and folks simply refuse to listen and just like the prep who did not listen, neither do you. So people game and pit God's good character traits against each other to get away with terrible acts and selfishness.

Fact is the Almighty speaks to you many ways and even on this forum thru others He does. Like the perp, it is you who refuse to listen. That may sound harsh but it is true. There is truth that is objective that often hurts, not to put one down or insult but rather help a person's personal growth.

Why are you really here on this forum? What drew you? Why were you curious?

Are you really vindictive, aloof, mean spirited , like to be in control, self centered, driven, condescending - I do not know the answer to this if you really are like this in real life - but from your comments here on this forum is how you come across to me. If you are why are these traits good or not so good?

What is it you wish to accomplish with your post?

Yeah, Audie, it could be that God is talking whole the time but you are too far to hear him or maybe the noise is too big...

I don't think, as a Christian, I'd ever join an atheistic website. I'd feel like I was purposefully going against the grain there, and that's just not how I want to be: a person who seeks arguments.

I feel the same if you are a pepsi fan and you join a coke website. Or a baseball fan in a football forum. Or an AC/DC fan in a Led Zeppelin discussion board. Or an Xbox fanboy on a Playstation website. Or a Democrat who joins the College Republicans.

That's what it looks like to me. Just my 0.02c.

You'd prefer I'm not here, that I am a person you'd not want to be?

Well, like, I tried to lighten up the mood since you are all like "You don't want me here do you?" which is not what he said. -_-*

No, he's right. I wasn't saying anything else beyond what I was saying.

edit: but I will put more content into my posts. Audie and I like to post with brevity, but on the internet, a lot can be lost in translation if you are not clear. There's only, like, 100 smilies we can choose from, and rarely do any of them match the situation: :moped:
