8 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who [e]stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

The commandment in exodus shows what the Israelites were to do, and not do as a commandment.

Can you tell me where in the text of Genesis 2:2-3, the commandment part is?

There doesn't appear to be any commandment or law in the text.

What we do see from the text in Genesis, is this:

1)God completed His work of creating, in six days.

2)By the 7th day, His creation was complete.

3)God rested on the 7th day.

4)God blessed the 7th day and made it holy.

What we do not see in the text, but are assumed and claimed:

1)It doesn't say that humans rested or were told to rest.

2)It doesn't say that humans were commanded to follow God’s example of resting.

3)It doesn't say that any humans were present, when God blessed the 7th day, and made it holy.

So you can see why interpretation and proper exegesis is important.

Your observance and claim that the sabbath commandment/law is a law for all humanity is based on a non-existent commandment in the text you are using as the foundation for your belief. And you don't see a problem with that?

It is generally impossible to remember something that wasn't previously mentioned or known.

The fact of the matter is that God did make the 7th day holy and did so at creation.

Another fact is that the commands that God wrote with His own finger are a Law...as described throughout scripture.

Laws require an authority only that authority can make or remove law(s). There is a clear indication of when the 4th commandment was first made ( Genesis 2:2,3 ) and who was present on the 7th day, humans having been created on the 6th day, though one could argue it wasn't a "law" and possibly not something that humans should do if it were not for God THEN clarifying even more in Exodus 20:1-17 that the 7th day God made holy at creation was a perpetual law for His people BECAUSE He was/did create.

To then claim that it doesn't say that humans were to rest is to neglect the fact that humanity was made in God's image...and so if God rested, then so did the human(s).

The 10 is Law that the NT clearly makes us conscious of sin. ( Romans 3:20 , Romans 7:7 )

Jesus even promotes the whole of the law in Matthew 22:34-40 where He says:

34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’c 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’d 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Galatians 5:14 then tells us that the Law is fulfilled in one command...Love.

Romans 8:3,4 then tells us the law is powerless to do something and then tells us what that something is. God did what the law was powerless to do by SENDING HIS SON. The law is powerless to save sinners since the Law condemns sinners. It points at the sin in us and declares us unrighteous.

Jesus then redeems us from the curse of the Law ( Galatians 3:13 ) because all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse! Why? The curse is that no one is sinless and the law curses sinners to unrighteousness/death! So we can see that the whole of the law is something that the righteous ( only Jesus ) has kept perfectly...as the text alludes in Galatians 3:10 - “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”

If you agree that God blessed and made the 7th day holy...what is it you do with that action of God besides attribute it to only Jews or to Israel? Especially in light of the fact that we Gentiles are to be GRAFTED into Christ...a Jew of the Hebrew lineage!?
